She kept her pace steady and casual, as if nothing was wrong.

Once she was safely back inside the gated community, she pulled out her phone and fired off a text to Lucian. "Someone is following me. A black van, license plate ends in..."

Barely three seconds after the text went through, Lucian's name flashed across her screen.

"Go back inside and lock every door."

His voice was dangerously low, his words clipping at a frantic speed. "Do not go back out. I have a team heading to your location right now. Five minutes."

The line went dead.

Seraphina slipped her phone back into her pocket and hurried toward the villa.

Safely inside, she stood by the window, peering out through a small gap in the blinds.

The black van was still parked across the street, completely stationary.

"I know."

"Are you scared?"

Less than five minutes later, two black SUVs tore around the corner out of nowhere, boxing the van in from both the front and the rear.
