My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 181

Zelda Gates grabbed her purse and swept out of the room.

The VIP room door clicked shut behind her.

Big Brody remained seated, listening as her frantic footsteps faded down the corridor.

Once the hallway fell completely silent, he pulled his phone from his pocket.

He scrolled to a specific number and hit dial.

It rang twice before the line connected.

Franklin Foster's gruff voice came through the speaker. "Speak."

Brody kept his tone perfectly neutral.

"Zelda Gates just came to see me."

"What did she want?" Frank asked.

"Same old story," Brody reported honestly. "She wants me to make a move on Mrs. Langford. But I followed your orders—didn't agree, didn't refuse. I'm just stringing her along."

Frank pressed further. "Did she suspect anything?"

Brody sounded certain. "Not a chance. Her head is so full of revenge against Mrs. Langford that she isn't thinking straight, and she trusts me blindly."

Frank's voice remained flat. "Then keep a close eye on her. Next time she reaches out, don't reject her outright. Tell her the timing isn't right and make her wait. The longer she waits, the more mistakes she'll make."

"Got it. Consider it done," Brody replied.

He ended the call.

...

Meanwhile.

At the Monroe residence.

Days had passed since the banquet, but the image of Lucian Langford arriving to pick up Seraphina was burned into Melody Monroe's mind.

Melody suddenly thought back to their childhood, when their parents used to joke that she and Lucian were meant to be, practically promising they would marry one day.

Given their families' close ties, along with her own flawless background and stunning looks, she believed she was the only woman truly worthy of him.

But while she was abroad, Lucian had gone and tied the knot.

And he had married a complete nobody—an estranged daughter, no less.

The thought made Melody sit up sharply.

She snatched her phone, pulled up Lucian's contact, and stared at it for a long time, though she couldn't bring herself to hit dial.

They had known each other their whole lives, but his attitude toward her had always been lukewarm at best.

If she called him out of the blue, he might not even answer.
