My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 206

He paused, his voice dropping to a lethal pitch. "And I never want to hear anyone gossiping or disrespecting her in her presence again."

Charlene looked like she had swallowed a lemon, but she remained absolutely silent.

Eleanor nodded in firm approval. "Well said, Lucian. Now, let us go eat."

The staff had already prepared the dining room. Eleanor led Seraphina by the hand, fussing over her the entire way. "Were you exhausted dealing with all those reporters? Is your stomach feeling okay? I had the kitchen prepare some special soup. Make sure you have at least two bowls."

Seraphina nodded gratefully, feeling completely cared for.

At the dinner table, Eleanor practically piled food onto Seraphina's plate. "You are far too thin. You need to eat more."

"Your bump has grown quite a bit since the last time I saw you. Is the baby active?"

Seraphina smiled softly. "Very active. Especially at night. He is always doing gymnastics in there."

Eleanor beamed, her eyes crinkling with joy. "A lively one! Just like Lucian when he was a boy."

Lucian cleared his throat awkwardly. "Grandma, just eat your dinner."

Eleanor shot him a playful glare. "I will talk if I want to, you focus on your food."

Laughter bubbled around the table, finally easing the lingering tension.

Sitting across from them, Charlene remained dead quiet, her appetite completely ruined.

She could not stand watching Seraphina being treated like royalty. This discarded, unwanted girl had barely been married into the family for five minutes, and she already had the terrifying matriarch wrapped around her little finger.

After dinner, Seraphina sat with Eleanor in the living room, chatting quietly.

Eleanor took her hand, lowering her voice. "Seraphina, do not let Charlene's words get to you. She has always had a vicious tongue."

Seraphina smiled reassuringly. "I will not, Grandma Eleanor."

Eleanor patted her hand gently. "You are a smart girl, I know that. You handled yourself perfectly today, but please, do not overexert yourself."

"I understand."

As the evening drew to a close, Lucian checked his watch and stood up. "Grandma, it is getting late. We should head back."
