The Sullivan household was completely devoid of the warmth found at Langford Manor.
After escaping through the convention center's back exit, Sebastian practically sprinted to the parking lot.
He threw himself into his car and sped away, desperate to leave the disaster zone behind.
His phone vibrated relentlessly in his pocket.
He didn't need to look at the screen to know who was calling—investors, partners, and media vultures circling for the kill.
He also knew his mother would be calling to tear him a new one for his catastrophic stupidity.
He drove aimlessly until he found a deserted stretch of road. After making absolutely sure no reporters had tailed him, he pulled over.
Right on cue, Victoria called again.
Sebastian finally answered.
Before he could even breathe, Victoria's shrill voice exploded through the speaker.
"Sebastian! What the hell is going on? I watched the livestream! Explain yourself right now!"
Sebastian gripped the steering wheel, a heavy, suffocating weight pressing down on his chest. "Mom, we will talk when I get home. I am barely holding it together as it is."
The line fell dead silent for a terrifying second before Victoria's voice returned, low and trembling with volcanic rage.
"Do you have any concept of how many people were watching that broadcast? Your father's associates are blowing up his phone, and he cannot even formulate an excuse! You have dragged the Sullivan family name through the mud today."
Sebastian stared blankly out the windshield.
Victoria was far from finished. "I warned you! I told you Sienna was a toxic, unreliable liability. But you refused to listen. You just had to get into bed with her."
"And look where we are! The project is dead, our reputation is in ashes, and how exactly do you expect your father to face our investors?"
Sebastian's voice cracked. "I said, we will talk about it when I get home."
He killed the call and threw the phone onto the passenger seat.
He sat in the suffocating silence of his car for what felt like hours.
When he finally pulled himself together, he drove back to the estate.
