"Sebastian, wake up! Sienna has been playing you from the very beginning. She never cared about saving your project; her only goal was manipulating her way into a marriage with you."
"Now that the ship is sinking, her only priority is securing her own life raft. You honestly think she is going to take the fall for you?"
Sebastian had no counter-argument.
Benedict stood up heavily. "I am convening the legal team first thing tomorrow morning. We will figure out a way to limit the collateral damage."
With that, he turned and marched upstairs.
Victoria lingered for a moment, looking at her son as if she wanted to say more, but ultimately swallowed her words and followed her husband.
Sebastian was left completely alone in the massive living room.
He slumped against the cushions. His phone buzzed yet again. It was another message from Sienna.
He stared at the illuminated screen for several seconds without tapping on the notification. With a frustrated groan, he tossed the phone onto the cushion next to him and pinched the bridge of his nose.
The phone vibrated again. Another text from Sienna.
He still did not open it, but the preview banner flashed across the screen: "Sebastian, please listen to my explanation..."
Explanation? What possible explanation could there be?
The evidence was irrefutable. Every data point, every timeline, every signature was undeniable.
She claimed Lucas had handed her those files, but she was the one who pulled Lucas into this mess. She was the one who orchestrated the theft. She physically handed those stolen blueprints over to him.
Her fingerprints were on every single step of this catastrophe. Did she really think she could wash her hands clean of it now?
Sebastian completely ignored her.
All his mental energy was entirely focused on finding a way to survive the fallout.
The next morning, Sebastian was rudely awakened by a maid knocking frantically on his bedroom door.
He dragged himself out of bed, threw on a fresh suit, and headed downstairs.
Benedict and Victoria were already at the dining table, both looking like they had aged a decade overnight. Their lavish breakfast sat completely untouched.
