My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 241

Charlene Langford took a sip of her tea and muttered under her breath, "Eleanor is so biased. What did I even say to warrant such an overreaction?"

Lawrence Langford shot her a sharp look, silently telling her to shut up.

The woman simply never thought before she spoke.

Lawrence then turned to Lucian Langford, immediately slapping on a warm, concerned smile. "Lucian, how do you plan to develop the Eastside Plot? I have a few excellent partners who would love to get involved. Do you want me to set up an introduction?"

Lucian leaned back against the sofa, his long fingers resting casually on the armrest. He barely lifted his gaze.

"That won't be necessary, Lawrence," his voice was polite but entirely detached. "The company already has its own plans for the Eastside project."

Lawrence's smile stiffened.

It was a blatant rejection.

Back when the Langford Group faced a massive crisis, Lawrence had stood by and watched, not offering a single word of support in Lucian's defense.

Now that the Eastside Plot had turned into an absolute goldmine, he was suddenly eager to cozy up.

Lucian saw right through the facade, but he didn't bother exposing it. He simply added in a cool tone, "If your contacts are interested, they are welcome to submit a bid. The process is fully open to the public."

Lawrence's expression completely soured.

Public bidding?

He was a Langford. Was Lucian really going to deny him this basic courtesy?

If his business associates found out, he would be a laughingstock.

It was absolutely outrageous!

Listening from the side, Charlene couldn't hold back anymore. "Lucian, that's no way to talk to family. Lawrence is only looking out for the company. Working with people we know and trust is obviously better than taking a gamble on outsiders."

The husband and wife played off each other with practiced synchronization.
