Seraphina stared at the fuzzy little blip on the screen, her eyes suddenly burning with emotion.
That was her baby.
"Mommy! I can see myself!" Little Bean's voice buzzed with excitement. "I'm so cute! Even if I just look like a little jellybean right now!"
Seraphina smiled, her heart racing with joy.
"Mr. Langford, would you like a look?" Dr. Miller turned to ask Lucian, who was standing nearby.
Lucian stepped closer, his gaze locking onto the monitor.
"It's good," he said, his voice a fraction lower than usual.
Seraphina looked up at him, suddenly struck by the feeling that this man wasn't nearly as cold as he appeared on the surface.
After the checkup was done, Lucian's phone rang with an urgent matter from the office.
"You go ahead and handle your work. I'll catch a cab back myself," Seraphina offered.
She had originally planned to take Little Bean out to browse the mall anyway.
"Stay safe, and call me if you need anything," Lucian instructed.
Seraphina nodded. "I will."
After Lucian left, Seraphina headed to the largest shopping mall in the city, located just a few blocks away.
She wanted to buy a few pieces of looser clothing.
She made a beeline for her usual go-to brands. She wasn't one for flashy designer labels; she preferred boutique brands that offered stylish yet durable pieces.
Just as Seraphina was browsing a rack of clothes, two figures happened to stroll past.
Spotting her, Sienna let out an exaggerated gasp. "Sera! Is that really you? I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me! What are you doing shopping at a cheap little store like this?"
Sienna purposely raised her voice, drawing the curious stares of several nearby shoppers.
Seraphina looked up, sweeping a thoroughly unimpressed glance over her.
Talk about a small world.
She really should have checked her horoscope before leaving the house; she had stepped right into a pile of garbage.
