Seraphina spoke, her tone slow and deliberate. "Sienna, you should probably worry about your own mess first. I'll be making a trip to The Simmons Group in a few days. It's time to settle some scores."
Sienna's face instantly drained of color.
"What do you mean by that?"
"I mean that I've been too lazy to manage my thirty percent stake in The Simmons Group until now. But going forward—I plan to manage it very closely." A meaningful smirk played at the corners of Seraphina's lips.
"Oh, and by the way, once my patent licensing agreement expires, I won't be renewing it. Since Sebastian's project is going to tank, and you're his perfect little partner now, I'm sure you'll do a great job helping him pick up the pieces."
Sienna's pupils constricted in sheer panic.
"You..."
"Good luck, Sienna."
With that, Seraphina turned and walked away, leaving Sienna rooted to the spot, her face shifting between shades of green and white.
"Mommy! That was so badass!" Little Bean shrieked with excitement. "Did you see her face? She looked like she just swallowed a fly!"
Seraphina laughed softly to herself.
*Badass?*
*This is only the beginning.*
......
The Sullivan Estate.
Sebastian had just been bailed out of the police station by his mother. He looked completely defeated, like a withered plant.
His tie was yanked loose, his dress shirt was stained with spilled alcohol, his hair was a tangled mess, and dark circles bruised the skin under his eyes.
Spending the night in a holding cell had been pure agony.
Victoria Sullivan hadn't given him a shred of sympathy the entire ride home, and the moment they walked through the front door, she finally exploded.
"Sebastian! Look at the state of you!" Victoria slammed her designer handbag onto the sofa, stomping her foot in fury. "The CEO of The Sullivan Group, acting like a drunken degenerate at his ex-fiancée's door, and getting hauled off by the cops! Do you have any idea how humiliating this is for our family?"
Victoria grew more furious the longer she yelled.
