The heavy office door clicked shut.
...
Sienna arrived home and collapsed onto her bed, curling into a tight ball.
The curtains were drawn completely shut, throwing the entire room into suffocating darkness.
Her phone screen flared to life, then dimmed, over and over again.
She kept obsessively swiping through the photos she had secretly taken the night before—specifically the one where Sebastian had instinctively shielded Yolanda behind him.
His back was to the camera, so she couldn't see his face, but that sheer, protective instinct sliced through Sienna's heart like a jagged blade.
He had never protected her like that.
Never.
Sienna hurled her phone across the mattress, buried her face in the pillows, and sobbed until her shoulders convulsed.
It wasn't fair.
How could Sebastian do this to her?
Suddenly, a frantic knocking echoed from the bedroom door.
"Sienna? Are you in there?" Zelda's anxious voice called out.
Sienna didn't answer.
"Sienna, open the door. We need to talk," her mother pressed, sounding genuinely panicked.
Sienna dragged herself out of bed, trudged to the door, and pulled it open.
Zelda gasped at the sight of her daughter's violently swollen eyes. "What happened? Who did this to you?"
"Mom, Sebastian threw me away," Sienna choked out, a fresh wave of tears spilling down her cheeks.
Zelda froze for a second, then let out a heavy sigh, pulling her daughter into a tight embrace and gently rubbing her back.
"It's just a man. Pull yourself together, crying like this won't fix anything. I'll find you someone infinitely better."
"I don't want anyone else. I just want him." Sienna sobbed like a broken child. "Mom, I love him. I can't breathe without him."
