My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 30

The joke was obviously about him.

"Yeah, seriously," Julian said, crossing his legs with a wicked grin. "The whole circle is talking about it. They're saying that you got married, man. And the punchline? They say you married Sebastian's ex-fiancée. When I first heard it, my immediate reaction was—who the hell comes up with this kind of trash gossip?"

A few of the other guys in the room chuckled along.

"Right? If Lucian was getting married, there's no way we wouldn't know."

"It's probably just some nobody trying to stir up drama for clout."

"Wait, Sebastian's ex-fiancée? Didn't she ditch him at the altar and immediately marry some other guy? That's more dramatic than a soap opera."

The guys kept tossing comments back and forth, the atmosphere in the room loose and relaxed.

Lucian was the only one not laughing.

He never expected to become the lead character in the city's latest gossip mill.

These people really had way too much free time.

Lucian set his glass down on the glass table with a sharp, crisp clink.

It wasn't loud, but the entire room instantly fell dead silent.

Everyone turned to stare at him.

Lucian slowly looked up, sweeping his gaze across the room before speaking in a perfectly flat tone. "It's not a joke. It's true."

The grin instantly completely vanished from Julian's face.

He looked as if he had just been struck by lightning, absolutely floored.

"What?"

"I said, I got married," Lucian repeated.

The room was suffocatingly quiet for five full seconds.

Suddenly, Julian shot up from his seat, his eyes wide as saucers. "Are you serious?"

Lucian didn't answer. He simply pulled out his phone, opened his photo gallery, and slid a picture across the table.

The photo showed a slender, pale hand wearing a stunning ruby ring that practically blazed under the light.

Julian stared at the screen for an agonizingly long time, then slowly lifted his head to look at Lucian. His mouth opened, closed, and then opened again before he finally dropped an F-bomb: "Holy shit."
