My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 31

Lucian Langford set down his glass.

His movements were slow, yet they radiated an overwhelming, suffocating pressure.

When he finally spoke, his voice was laced with pure ice. "Whoever said that, tell them to say it to my face."

Julian Zeller froze.

"Gossiping behind someone's back," Lucian continued, "is nothing but cowardice."

He stood up, towering over everyone in the room. His gaze was terrifyingly calm, like a bottomless abyss.

"Seraphina is my wife. Anyone who dares to touch a single hair on her head is declaring war on me."

With that, his tone reverted to its usual indifference. "I'm heading out. Enjoy the rest of your evening."

"Hey, Lucian, it's so early. You're leaving already?" Julian called out instinctively.

Lucian didn't even look back. "Someone is waiting for me at home."

The door clicked shut.

The private room fell into a stunned silence for a long moment.

Julian stared at the door, then glanced around at the others. He finally raised his glass, downed his drink in one gulp, and let out a sigh.

"Well, damn. Lucian has fallen hard."

"No kidding. Is he actually in love?"

"Am I dreaming? Someone pinch me. The guy who was the absolute least likely to ever settle down actually got married?"

Julian pursed his lips, a thoughtful expression crossing his face.

He was suddenly incredibly curious about Seraphina.

What exactly had this woman done to make Lucian defend her so fiercely?

This was huge news.

...

By the time Lucian returned home, it was close to ten o'clock at night.

The living room was illuminated by a single floor lamp, casting a soft, warm glow.

He walked in and saw Seraphina curled up on the sofa. A thin blanket was draped over her, a book still resting in her hands, her head tilted to the side in deep sleep.

A glass of cold milk sat untouched on the coffee table.
