Seraphina let out a weak laugh. "Is this your first time looking at a newborn?"

"Yeah," Lucian admitted honestly, entirely unable to tear his gaze away from the tiny bundle in her arms.

The attending nurse beamed at the new parents. "Congratulations, you two. He is a perfectly healthy baby boy, weighing in at exactly 6.6 pounds."

The clinical update snapped Lucian back to reality. He sharply raised his head, his commanding gaze locking onto the doctor. "What about my wife? Is she okay?"

"The mother is doing wonderfully. No complications, no excessive bleeding. Everything went perfectly. She'll be ready for discharge in a few days."

Lucian released a massive, shuddering breath, feeling as though a suffocating weight had just been dragged off his chest.

He looked down at Seraphina, leaned in close, and pressed a lingering, fiercely tender kiss to her lips.

"You went through hell today, sweetheart."

Fresh tears spilled over Seraphina's lashes, but this time, her smile was completely radiant.
