My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 37

As Seraphina walked through the gates of the estate, the driver was still waiting for her.

Spotting her, he immediately hopped out to open the door. "Ma'am."

Seraphina looked surprised. "Didn't I tell you to head back?"

"Mr. Langford instructed me to wait for you, no matter how long it took," the driver replied respectfully.

His eyes darted to the bright red handprint on her cheek, and he hesitated. "Ma'am, your face..."

"It's nothing. Take me home." With that, Seraphina ducked into the backseat.

That one slap had effectively severed whatever ties remained between father and daughter.

The car smoothly pulled away from the mansion.

She leaned back against the leather seat, closing her eyes as her hand subconsciously rested on her stomach.

"Mommy, are you okay?" Little Bean's voice was cautious. "That old man was way out of line! Trying to steal your shares—he has no shame! And Sienna is such a fake! I hate her!"

Seraphina smiled softly in her mind. "I'm fine."

"But you don't look very happy."

"I'm just a little tired," Seraphina murmured.

And she truly was exhausted.

Not because of Samuel's aggressive demands, or Zelda and Sienna's two-faced toxicity.

She had grown numb to all of that years ago. Once you get used to the venom, it stops burning.

She was just tired of the endless, exhausting drama.

It felt like as long as she was alive and carried the Simmons name, she would never be free of this mess.

She needed to deal with the shares as quickly as possible.

She had promised her grandfather she would protect The Simmons Group.

So she wasn't going to sell her shares. In fact, she was going to officially join the company and take what was hers.

In the past, she had let things slide, convincing herself they were still family.

That the man was still her father.

But today's slap was the final wake-up call she needed.
