A week later, at Langford Manor.
Seraphina Simmons and Lucian Langford returned with Little Bean for a family dinner.
Before the car had even come to a complete stop, Little Bean had already started his internal broadcast for the manor visit.
"Welcome back, listeners, to episode thirty-seven of the Little Bean Observation Diaries. Today's theme is: Dinner at the Manor!"
"Yours truly will be broadcasting a live analysis of the fluctuating heart rates and suspicious behaviors of the Langford family members."
Seraphina's lips twitched, and she replied in her mind, "You said episode thirty-seven last time. Why is it still thirty-seven?"
Little Bean paused. "...My numbering system has a minor bug. It doesn't affect the quality of the content."
Seraphina was speechless.
Upon entering, Grandma Eleanor immediately took Little Bean into one arm while pulling Seraphina close with the other, warmly asking how she had been.
Little Bean instantly activated his cute mode.
He flashed a wide, gummy smile at Eleanor and blew a happy little bubble for good measure.
Meanwhile, his inner voice was giving a running commentary: "Performance in progress... bubble launch successful... Great-Grandma's joy index is steadily rising..."
"Excellent. I can definitely request an extra snack now."
Seraphina nearly laughed out loud, hastily lifting her teacup to hide her smile.
Evie Langford descended the stairs.
When she saw Seraphina, her expression turned frosty, though she didn't hurl insults like she usually did.
Without a word, she walked over to the dining table and sat down, her gaze fixed entirely on Lucian and Little Bean.
"Attention, attention. Auntie Drama has appeared."
"Heart rate is elevated, emotional complexity is high."
Eleanor smiled and looked over. "Evie, come over and hold Little Bean. He's so soft and sweet, and incredibly fun to play with."
Evie pressed her lips together and glanced in the baby's direction. She seemed tempted, but she didn't move.
Seraphina froze, a flash of awkwardness in her eyes. "No, not really."
A maid hurried into the room and whispered to Eleanor, "Ma'am, Ms. Monroe is here."
Upon hearing that Melody Monroe had arrived, a bright smile instantly lit up Evie's face. "Melody is here? Hurry, invite her in."
Seraphina and Lucian exchanged a look. Melody certainly had impeccable timing.
Moments later, the maid escorted Melody into the living room.
Melody was dressed in a pristine white dress today, her makeup light and elegant, giving off an aura of gentle grace.
"Mrs. Langford, I'm so sorry to intrude on your home again," Melody greeted Eleanor with a warm smile.
She shifted her gaze, her face registering what looked like genuine surprise upon noticing the couple.
"Lucian, Ms. Simmons, you're here too?"
Lucian gave a slight nod. "Yes, we came back for dinner."
