"Melody," Evie called out affectionately.
Melody immediately walked over and linked her arm through Evie's.
The two looked incredibly close, radiating a tight-knit bond.
"I heard you haven't been sleeping well lately, so I had someone prepare some Premium Red Bird's Nest and other expensive health supplements just for you."
Evie was in high spirits as she chatted quietly with her friend. "You really didn't have to go to all this trouble. I have plenty of those things at home."
"That's entirely different," Melody replied with a gentle laugh. "What you have at home is yours. This is my personal gift to you."
"I just want you to recover quickly so you can come shopping and hang out with me again."
Evie looked at her, deeply moved. "You're so good to me, Melody."
From the moment Melody had walked in, Evie hadn't taken her eyes off her.
Worried that Seraphina might feel slighted, Eleanor leaned in and quietly explained, "Those two grew up playing together, so they share a very deep bond."
Seraphina offered a gracious smile. "Yes, I can tell they're very close."
Little Bean, still cradled in Eleanor's arms, darted his big eyes around the room.
"That Monroe woman looks sweet and gentle on the outside, but she's totally faking it. Her resting heart rate is much faster than a normal person's."
He paused, then added, "Though, as far as acting goes, she's only an eight out of ten. Mommy is a much better actress than she is."
Seraphina paused mid-sip. "Excuse me? I'm a better actress? Since when do I act?"
Little Bean replied promptly, "Whenever you pretend not to know what I'm talking about, Mommy. That's acting."
Seraphina was speechless.
She couldn't believe she was being called out by her own infant son.
Susan walked over with a small bowl. "Ma'am, the baby oatmeal is ready."
