"Keep a close eye on Little Bean," Seraphina urged right before stepping inside.
Tiffany flashed an OK sign with her fingers. "Don't worry, I'll watch him like a hawk."
Reassured by Tiffany's promise, Seraphina finally ducked into the fitting room to try on the dress.
True to her word, Tiffany stood firmly in place, her eyes locked on Little Bean.
"With a baby this cute, of course I have to keep my eyes glued to him."
The long car ride had already made Little Bean drowsy, and the soothing, perfumed air inside the boutique quickly lulled him completely to sleep.
Tiffany gently poked his chubby cheek. "My godson is just too adorable."
Suddenly, a gasp echoed from Seraphina's fitting room. "Oh no."
"What's wrong?"
Tiffany immediately stood up, taking two steps toward the stall. "Sera, don't scare me!"
Seraphina's voice drifted through the curtain. "Tiff, can you tell the sales associate she grabbed the wrong size? I asked for a Size Medium, but she gave me a Size Small. I didn't realize until I had it half on."
"Yeah, I'll go let them know."
As Tiffany turned around, she threw a quick glance in Little Bean's direction.
The stroller's canopy was pulled down, so he was perfectly fine.
The boutique's overhead lighting was incredibly bright, so Tiffany had intentionally lowered the shade to keep the glare out of his eyes.
While waiting for Tiffany to fetch the right size, Seraphina suddenly heard Little Bean's frantic telepathic voice.
"Mommy, I want Mommy! Who are you? Why are you pushing me away?"
"Mommy, help!"
A violent shudder ripped through Seraphina's body.
Without even pulling the dress up properly or zipping it shut, she slammed the fitting room door open and sprinted out.
Tiffany jumped, startled by the explosive exit. "Sera, what's going on? Your dress..."
Seraphina charged straight toward the stroller and ripped the sunshade back.
It was completely empty.
"Where is Little Bean?"
