My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 424

...

As Lucian's SUV tore through the mountain roads, his phone buzzed with an unexpected caller.

Sebastian Sullivan.

Sebastian's voice was heavy, laced with a surprising edge of anxiety. "Mr. Langford, it's Sebastian. I saw the news about Seraphina. If you need any resources or manpower, I can—"

"I don't need your help."

Lucian hung up before Sebastian could finish his sentence.

On the other end of the line, Sebastian stared at his darkened screen. He looked out at the pitch-black sky, a strange, suffocating sense of dread pooling in his chest.

Was Seraphina going to be okay?

When he first saw the news, he hadn't felt an ounce of vindication.

Instead, an intense wave of worry had crashed over him—an emotion he hadn't even realized he was capable of feeling for her anymore.

He desperately wanted to help, but he no longer had the right.

Lucian had shut him out.

Back at the Simmons residence, Sienna and Zelda were watching the evening broadcast, catching the breaking news of the abduction.

"That bitch finally got what she deserved," Sienna sneered, slamming her fork down onto her plate with a vicious smirk. "She was too arrogant. Someone finally decided to take out the trash."

Zelda tried to keep her composure, but a cruel thrill rushed through her.

If Seraphina really died, she'd throw a party.

That ungrateful brat had fought her at every turn, embarrassing her publicly. She had wanted Seraphina dead for a long time.

Suddenly, the sharp crash of a plate shattering echoed from the head of the table.

Sienna and Zelda jumped, whipping their heads toward Samuel.

"Dad, what are you doing?"

"Shut up," Samuel barked, his face twisting into a furious scowl. "Seraphina dying does us absolutely no favors."

"Why do you care?" Sienna snapped, crossing her arms defensively. "She completely ignores you anyway!"

Samuel scoffed in disgust. "You narrow-minded fools."
