"Seraphina," Lucian said, his tone turning slightly chilly.
"What?" Seraphina looked at him, her expression calm.
"Didn't we agree to be completely open with each other?" Lucian stared at her, his look practically demanding answers.
Seraphina said, "I've already handed it over to Winona and the team. It's a very minor problem. Truly, I don't need to trouble the incredibly busy Mr. Langford."
She paused, then planted a kiss on Lucian's cheek. "It's after work hours now. You're my husband, and I have the right to monopolize all your time."
Lucian's gaze darkened. One hand gripped her waist, while the other cupped the back of her head. He closed the distance and captured her lips, kissing her deeply.
Christian stared straight ahead without blinking, silently raising the privacy partition.
The next morning, Lyra Bay was much livelier than usual.
When the stylists and wardrobe consultants arrived, Susan was coaxing Little Bean to drink his milk. Hearing the flurry of unfamiliar footsteps, the little guy, who had been lazily resting his tiny hands on his swaddle, immediately started wriggling, as if he had discovered something fascinating.
Just as Seraphina came downstairs, she heard her son's excited inner voice.
"Wow, so many people! So many pretty ladies!"
"Is Mommy turning into a fairy today? Daddy is definitely going to be stunned."
Seraphina paused mid-step, unable to resist glancing at the crib.
Little Bean had his dark, grape-like eyes wide open, trying his best to look in her direction while blowing a little milk bubble.
Susan couldn't stop chuckling. "The young heir is in high spirits today. He loves a crowd."
Seraphina walked over, her fingertip gently brushing against his soft cheek. "Little chatterbox."
"I'm not a chatterbox, I'm the hype man!"
"For an event like today, without me holding down the fort, Daddy and Mommy's romance arc could totally derail."
Seraphina withdrew her hand, pretending she hadn't heard a thing.
The stylist rolled a rack of gowns into the living room and asked softly, "Mrs. Langford, Mr. Langford instructed that we prioritize your preferences today. The gowns are all quite understated, so they won't overshadow the charity theme."
Seraphina took a look.
