By the time the two arrived, the pier was already packed with luxury cars.
A dark carpet lined the entrance. The media was held back on the outer perimeter, only able to capture footage of the invited guests making their entrance.
Christian presented the invitation, and the staff immediately bowed and let them through.
Seraphina pushed Lucian's wheelchair into the yacht's main hall, instantly drawing numerous gazes.
This was the first time since their marriage that Lucian had brought his wife to such a public social event. While Hudson's Welcome Gala had introduced Seraphina to some of the city's elite families, that had been Langford home turf. Today's charity event was a chaotic mix of various power players.
People murmured in low voices.
"Mr. Langford actually brought her."
"So that's Mrs. Langford? She's even more stunning than in the photos."
"I heard she joined the Langford Group's project team and even beat Melody yesterday."
"The Monroes sent someone today too. There's bound to be drama later."
Seraphina caught fragments of the gossip but didn't pay it much mind.
Lucian, however, glanced sideways at her. "Nervous?"
Seraphina looked at the hand he was holding. "Are you?"
Lucian smiled. "I was worried you'd find it annoying."
Seraphina withdrew her gaze. "Annoying or not, I'm already here."
Lucian said softly, "Then if you get annoyed later, I'll take you away to hide."
Before Seraphina could reply, a sickly sweet, overly enthusiastic voice sounded from behind them.
"Seraphina, you're here too? What a coincidence."
Seraphina stopped in her tracks.
The voice was so familiar she didn't even need to turn around to know exactly who it was.
She turned and saw Sienna standing a short distance away in a light pink gown. Her makeup was flawless, and she wore a smile, but she couldn't completely hide the smugness in her eyes.
Seraphina's gaze darkened.
Sienna actually showed up.
"You're here as well?"
