Sebastian finally snapped out of his daze, glanced at Sienna, and nodded.
The two turned and walked away.
After a few steps, Sienna looked back at Seraphina, her eyes practically venomous.
Just wait!
Seraphina Simmons!
I will absolutely ruin you.
Little Bean muttered in her womb, "Mommy, the way that woman looked at you was terrifying, like she wants to eat you alive."
"Let her be. She's just a clown," Seraphina replied internally.
"Yeah. But where's Dad? If he were here, that scumbag wouldn't have dared to come over," Little Bean pointed out.
Seraphina scanned the venue.
She spotted Lucian conversing with several business partners, his posture immaculate, his aura commanding.
As if sensing her gaze, he turned his head slightly and looked her way.
Their eyes met from across the room.
Seraphina's heart skipped a beat, and she hurriedly looked away.
Little Bean giggled mischievously. "Mommy, you got caught checking Dad out!"
"I was not!"
"You were too! I felt your heart race!"
Seraphina took a deep breath and took another large gulp of juice.
This telepathic baby was getting harder to fool.
The gala proceeded smoothly.
As it was a charity event, the focus soon shifted to fundraising.
The charity auction commenced.
The host introduced the night's first item, an antique diamond necklace, with a starting bid of three hundred thousand dollars.
"Three hundred and fifty thousand," someone raised their paddle.
"Four hundred thousand."
"Four hundred and fifty thousand."
Sitting beside Lucian, Seraphina watched the jewelry on stage with mild boredom.
She had no interest in gems, and an auction in this setting felt more like a social performance than anything else.
"Do you like it?" Lucian asked quietly.
Seraphina shook her head. "Too flashy. It doesn't suit me."
