Sebastian remembered that Seraphina loved camellias.
In the past, whenever he wanted to coax a smile from her, he would have fresh camellias flown in just for her.
"Two million dollars," Lucian spoke up. His voice wasn't loud, but it instantly plunged the entire ballroom into silence.
Two million dollars for a painting with a market value of no more than five hundred thousand?
It was a blatant slap in Sebastian's face.
Sebastian's expression darkened. Just as he was about to raise his paddle again, Sienna slammed her hand over his. "Sebastian! Snap out of it! You're going up against Lucian Langford!"
Sebastian froze.
He couldn't afford to offend Lucian.
Despite his refined, scholarly exterior, Lucian was notoriously ruthless in business.
Anyone who dared oppose him in the corporate world ended up destroyed.
Sebastian hadn't solidified his power yet, and the Sullivan family still needed to secure their footing. He couldn't risk the entire family's future over a moment of impulse.
"Two million, going once," the auctioneer announced excitedly.
"Two million, going twice."
"Two million, sold!"
The gavel fell, and the camellia painting belonged to Lucian.
Seraphina turned to look at him, her expression a mix of conflicting emotions.
"It's for you," Lucian said casually.
Seraphina's heart rate spiked. "That's too expensive."
"As long as you like it," Lucian paused. "Money isn't an issue."
Little Bean rolled around wildly in her womb. "Ahhh! Dad is so cool! Mommy, look how much he spoils you! Two million dollars! He just dropped it like it was nothing!"
Ignoring her baby's shrieks, Seraphina lowered her head, the tips of her ears burning bright red.
"Thank you," she whispered.
No one had ever pampered her like this before.
A deep sense of warmth flooded Seraphina's chest.
Lucian glanced at her, the corners of his lips curving upward.
