My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 544

Seraphina didn't look back. "Talk less. Save your breath."

Gillian shut her mouth, but her eyes never left her.

This woman could easily have just waited for Lucian to find her.

Yet here she was, risking her life for her sake.

Tearing her dress, stepping on the sink, dismantling the exhaust fan—Seraphina moved with sharp, ruthless efficiency.

Gillian suddenly remembered what her father had told her.

He had said that when Seraphina saved a life, she didn't hesitate for a split second.

At the time, she had thought her father was exaggerating.

Now, she believed him completely.

Seraphina grabbed the edge of the exhaust fan, finding the screws fastened tight.

She glanced down, snatched a piece of metal trim from the edge of the sink, and used the sharp end to pry the screws.

The metal slashed her hand, leaving a smear of blood on the white window frame.

She didn't even flinch, just pushed harder.

One screw came loose.

Then the second.

She ripped the exhaust fan casing out and hurled it clattering into the sink, splashing water onto the mirror.

Gillian was coughing harder now, her voice fading to a rasp. "If I don't make it... please tell Yolanda... to stop relying on the Sullivans."

Seraphina paused for a moment and looked down at her. "Tell her yourself."

Gillian offered a bitter smile. "She rarely listens to me."

Seraphina tossed the metal trim aside and climbed back up. "Then you definitely need to stay alive."

Gillian clutched her chest, her eyes welling with tears.

She had seen too many people in her life.

People who spoke pretty words, people who changed their faces the second profits were involved, and people who cleared their own names the moment trouble hit.

But Seraphina was different.

She didn't ask if this mess would implicate the Langford family, nor did she ask what saving her would get her in return.

All she asked was how long Gillian could hold out.

Seraphina finally shoved the ventilation window open. She gripped the sill and hoisted her upper body out.

In the next second, she froze.

Outside the window wasn't a hallway.
