Seraphina immediately clamped her fingers onto a metal seam in the yacht's hull.
Her hand throbbed with a numbing pain.
She squeezed her eyes shut, forcing down the terror rising in her chest, and continued inching forward.
Gillian was still inside waiting for her.
She absolutely could not fall.
The ventilation window for the men's restroom was right in front of her.
Seraphina raised her hand and knocked loudly. "Is anyone in there?"
The sound of running water echoed from inside.
Immediately after, a man's voice snapped irritably, "Who is it? Can't a guy take a piss in peace?"
Recognizing the voice, Seraphina's expression finally cracked.
Jules.
Jules hadn't even zipped his pants before Seraphina's voice drifted through the ventilation window.
He thought he was hallucinating, but when he looked up, he nearly stumbled back into the stall. "Seraphina?!"
Seraphina clung to the window frame. Her hair was whipped into a frenzy by the river wind, the side of her gown was shredded to her knee, and her wrist was wrapped in a strip of torn fabric.
She held out a hand toward Jules. "Cut the crap and pull me in."
Seeing the pitch-black river yawning behind her, all the color drained from Jules's face. "Does Lucian know you're rock climbing on the side of a boat?!"
"Pull me in first!"
Jules cursed under his breath, stepping onto the sink counter to grab her arm. "Don't you dare let go. If you fall, Lucian will bury me alive."
Using his momentum, Seraphina vaulted through the window. As her toes hit the edge of the sink, she slipped, nearly plunging to the floor, but Jules shot out a hand to steady her.
The moment she found her footing, she yanked her arm back. "Someone is having an asthma attack in the women's restroom. The door is locked. We need to save her."
Jules glanced at the blood on her palm, then down at her shredded skirt. "You're going to explain why you just crawled through a men's room window first."
Seraphina was already striding toward the door. "Gillian is dying."
Jules's face instantly went pale. "Gillian?"
"You know her?"
Jules was already sprinting for the exit. "The eldest daughter of the Harrisons! If she dies on this boat, nobody is making it out of tonight alive."
Seraphina hurried after him. "Find her assistant. She has her medicine."
