"No need," Lucian Langford said calmly.
Gillian Harrison looked up at him.
Lucian's tone was unyielding. "Does the Langford family look like we can't afford a dress?"
As he spoke, he suddenly turned to look at Evie Langford.
Evie's eyes widened. Was he going to blame her for this?
She bit her lip. "Lucian, I... I didn't know earlier."
Seraphina Simmons looked at her. "You didn't know, so you thought it was fine to accuse me first?"
Evie's face flushed red, and she huffed, "You didn't explain yourself! How was I supposed to know?"
Seraphina smiled, though it didn't reach her eyes. "I was busy saving a life. I didn't have time to cater to your demands for an explanation."
Evie was rendered speechless.
Lucian looked at her. "Evie, apologize."
Evie pursed her lips and looked at Lucian pleadingly. "Lucian..."
"Now."
Gripping the fabric of her dress, it took her a long time to squeeze out, "I'm sorry."
Seraphina glanced at her. "I'll accept the apology. But next time you open your mouth, make sure your brain is engaged first."
Jules Zeller let out a snort of laughter.
Evie wanted to snap back but swallowed her words under Lucian's piercing gaze.
After catching her breath, Gillian pointed toward the bathroom. "I remember sending my allergy information to the organizers before boarding. Why was this kind of aromatherapy diffuser even here?"
The ship's doctor had the staff remove the diffuser and place it in a sealed bag.
Gillian's assistant spoke with red eyes, "That's right. Ms. Harrison is highly allergic to this type of fragrance. I confirmed it with the organizers beforehand. There was no way this should have been in the women's restroom."
Seraphina looked at Lucian. "This wasn't a coincidence."
Christian Chase walked back briskly, his expression grim. "Mr. Langford, the surveillance camera in this hallway is broken. The organizers claim it went out half an hour ago."
An uproar rippled through the guests.
Lucian gave the order. "Lock down the ship."
The organizer's face drained of color. "Mr. Langford, with so many important guests on board, locking down the ship might cause a terrible scene."
Lucian looked up. "Someone almost died on your ship, and you want to talk to me about a scene?"
The man didn't dare say another word.
