My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 548

Seraphina remained silent, her gaze simply sweeping over the other woman's wrist once more.

Noticing Seraphina's intense stare, Sienna tucked her hand under her shawl. "I was in the exhibition hall the whole time earlier. Plenty of people can prove it."

Seraphina finally spoke. "Did I ask you?"

Sienna's smile stiffened.

Evie frowned. "Seraphina, you can't just randomly suspect people just because you have a grudge against her."

Seraphina looked at her. "Haven't you made enough of a fool of yourself tonight?"

Evie felt a lump in her chest and snapped her mouth shut.

Melody Monroe stood on the outskirts of the crowd, looking deeply displeased.

She had originally wanted to see Seraphina lose her composure.

But instead, Seraphina had made sure everyone remembered that she saved Gillian.

Landon walked up beside her, taking a sip from his champagne flute. "See that?" he asked with a smirk.

Melody didn't look at him. "See what?"

"The messier she gets, the more people step up to clean it up for her."

Landon glanced toward Lucian. "And the more composed you are, the less anyone feels sorry for you."

Melody's brows knotted together, but she said nothing.

Landon chuckled. "Don't worry. The gala has just begun."

The organizers quickly ushered the guests back into the main hall, explaining that the cruise ship was heading to the center of the river for a better view. The gala schedule would continue as planned, and they would return to the dock after the auction.

The organizers framed it beautifully, so no one mentioned disembarking again.

Seraphina had her palm treated, took a shower in one of the ship's guest cabins, and changed into an evening gown sold in the ship's boutique.

Although the style was rather plain, it was far better than wearing a torn dress.

As she accompanied Lucian back into the hall, all eyes immediately darted in her direction, the assessing gazes completely undisguised.

Lucian swept a cold glare across the room, and the prying eyes instantly darted away.

"You don't have to be so fierce," Seraphina murmured.

Lucian looked at her. "You like them staring at you?"

Seraphina curved her lips into a smile. "I don't mind it. It's not like their stares are going to burn a hole in me. They have mouths, they can say whatever they want. I don't care, since I can't hear them anyway."

Lucian smiled faintly. "You have a good attitude, Mrs. Langford."
