"My meetings finished early, so I came back to pick you up," Lucian said smoothly.
He had a tense board meeting earlier that day, and his uncle Lawrence was present.
Lawrence had been keeping a low profile lately, but Lucian knew the man wasn't going to just back down quietly.
So, Lucian had remained highly alert.
The second the meeting wrapped up, he headed straight back to the villa to pick up Seraphina.
Just the thought of having lunch with her put him in a much better mood.
A warm flutter swept through Seraphina's chest as she slid into the seat beside him.
As the car pulled away, Lucian turned his head and let his gaze linger on her for an extra second.
"The dress looks great on you," he complimented.
The tips of Seraphina's ears turned pink. "I just threw it on."
Little Bean was howling with laughter in her mind: "And you said it wasn't a date! Daddy even complimented your outfit!"
Seraphina scolded him internally, "Zip it."
The car smoothly pulled up to the entrance of The Willow Grove, the most exclusive private club in the city.
Nestled right in the heart of the bustling metropolis, The Willow Grove was an oasis of tranquility and total privacy. It was a favorite spot for the city's most powerful elites.
As Lucian guided Seraphina inside, the manager practically rushed over to greet them respectfully, "Mr. Langford, Madam, right this way."
The manager led the way, discreetly glancing at Seraphina while internally dying of curiosity.
Lucian was one of the major shareholders of The Willow Grove. He frequented the establishment often, but he only ever brought his close friends or business partners. Bringing a woman was completely unprecedented.
The manager was dying to know who she was.
The lingering tension between them was undeniably romantic.
Their private dining room was tucked away at the very back of the restaurant, an exclusive suite reserved strictly for Lucian. It overlooked a serene lake, and through the floor-to-ceiling windows, a vibrant lotus pond was in full bloom, the elegant pink-and-white petals swaying gently in the breeze.
Seraphina stood mesmerized by the window.
"Do you like it?" Lucian asked, stepping up right behind her.
"Yeah, it's gorgeous," Seraphina nodded.
Lucian glanced out the window, a faint smile touching his lips.
