Lucian shot him a mild glance. "Stop snooping. Once she gets back, get the hell out."

"Whoa, so protective. Is this your new wife? Don't tell me you actually caught feelings? Aren't you worried she's just climbing into your bed for the money?" Julian warned.

After all, this woman didn't exactly have a stellar reputation.

She had just called off her wedding, only to immediately latch onto Lucian.

At that exact moment, Seraphina was returning from the restroom and caught the sound of an unfamiliar voice drifting from the private dining room.

"Who said it was just a fling?" Lucian's tone turned icy. "Julian, since when is my personal life any of your business?"

Julian froze. "Lucian, I didn't mean it like that—"

Lucian cut him off sharply. "Then what did you mean? She is my wife. If I don't protect her, am I supposed to just sit back and let others walk all over her?"

The room fell dead silent.
