But now, Lucian was waiting on Seraphina like it was the most natural thing in the world.
Sure enough, hell had frozen over. The icy billionaire was finally thawing.
At the same time, Julian couldn't help but wonder.
This Seraphina Simmons was definitely not a simple woman.
"So, I heard you're pregnant?" Julian asked with a grin, his eyes dropping to Seraphina's stomach.
Seraphina instinctively shielded her belly. "Yes."
"How far along?"
"Four months."
"You need to take good care of yourself. A buddy of mine runs a high-end maternity retreat. The amenities are fantastic. If you're interested, you should check it out."
Before Seraphina could even respond, Lucian shut him down flatly. "No need."
Julian paused. "...It's run by a good friend, the setup is seriously top-tier."
"My wife is having a baby. You think she needs to go to some retreat run by your buddy?" Lucian's tone was frigid. "Do you think I can't afford to take care of her?"
Julian choked on his words, torn between laughing and crying. "Lucian, I didn't mean it like that, I was just trying to be nice—"
"Keep your kindness to yourself." Lucian picked up his glass, his voice leaving no room for argument. "I will handle everything she needs."
Seraphina looked at Lucian's sharp profile, a sweet warmth flooding her chest.
Inside her belly, Little Bean murmured, "Daddy is so bossy, but he's so handsome."
Taking the hint, Julian dropped the subject. He picked up his fork and speared a piece of BBQ rib, muttering, "Fine, fine, you handle it. I'm just an outsider running my mouth."
Right now, Julian practically wanted to slap himself.
That's what he got for talking too much. Keep your mouth shut.
Lucian shot him a look. "If you know you're an outsider, then keep quiet."
Julian was speechless.
Seraphina couldn't help but let a small smile slip.
