My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 8

Seraphina: "............"

Her face flushed completely red, the heat spreading all the way to the tips of her ears.

Little Bean's voice chimed in right on cue, laced with amusement. "Mommy, Daddy is just teasing you! He actually believes you, he just wants to see you get flustered!"

Seraphina: "..."

Could you please be quiet?

"That birthmark..." she tried her hardest to sound composed. "I saw it by accident."

"By accident?"

"Just... you know, when we were doing it..."

She couldn't finish the sentence.

Lucian watched her burning red ears, a flicker of something unreadable crossing his eyes.

He looked away, leaning back against the leather seat, his tone returning to its usual coldness. "So, what are your plans?"

Seraphina blinked in surprise. "Excuse me?"

"The baby," he said. "What do you plan to do?"

Seraphina's hand instinctively hovered over her stomach.

What was she going to do?

Truthfully, she hadn't figured that out yet.

Up until today, she had believed the baby was Sebastian's. Even though it was a surprise, she figured they were getting married anyway, so she planned to keep it.

But now...

"I'm keeping it," she said. Her voice wasn't loud, but it was resolute.

Lucian raised an eyebrow.

"This is your child," Seraphina said, meeting his gaze. "But I don't need you to take responsibility. I asked for your help today because I was completely out of options. Once this storm blows over, I won't bother you again."

Lucian stared at her, his eyes dark and unreadable.

The car fell silent for a few seconds.

Then he spoke. "Do you have any idea how many women want to crawl into my bed, get pregnant with my child, and marry into the Langford family?"

Seraphina nodded honestly. "I know."

"I don't care how you found out about my birthmark, and I don't know if what you're saying now is the truth, but walking through the Langford family's doors isn't that simple. You'd better prepare yourself," Lucian stated coldly.

Once the baby was born, if it truly belonged to the Langfords, he would make her his wife. But if it wasn't, he would settle the score, starting with the fact that he saved her today.

Seraphina was stunned. "Mr. Langford—"

"If you go back now, do you want to be ambushed by reporters at your door, or torn apart by the Sullivans?" Lucian's tone was flat. "Stay at my place for now. We'll deal with the rest tomorrow."

Seraphina opened her mouth to argue, but she realized he was entirely right.

She truly had nowhere to go tonight.

She couldn't return to the Simmons house, she couldn't check into a hotel, and as for her friends... she didn't want to drag anyone else into this mess.

"Thank you," she said softly.

Lucian didn't reply, simply turning his gaze back out the window.

Little Bean's voice echoed in her belly, soft and triumphant:

"Mommy, see? Daddy isn't that scary, is he? He just acts tough but he's a softie inside!"

"I'm telling you, he's totally going to be wrapped around your finger! I have a feeling Mommy is going to have him completely at her mercy."

Seraphina lowered her eyes, a faint smile curving her lips.

This kid...

Really was a little chatterbox.
