My Unborn Baby Chose My Husband for Me novel Chapter 82

Little Bean was growing increasingly active in her womb, giving her an occasional kick as if cheering her on.

That evening, when Lucian returned home and saw Seraphina still in the study poring over documents, he furrowed his brow.

"It's late. Why aren't you resting?"

She looked up. "Just a little longer."

He walked over and firmly snapped the files shut. "No. You're pregnant. You can't exhaust yourself like this."

She let out a helpless sigh. "Just ten more minutes."

"Not even one minute," Lucian replied, his tone leaving no room for argument. "Upstairs. Bed."

Seraphina looked at him and suddenly smiled. "Lucian, aren't you being a bit too controlling?"

He arched an eyebrow. "You're my wife. If I don't look out for you, who will?"

Her heart skipped a beat. She lowered her gaze. "Understood."

She stood up and headed for the door.

Following closely behind, his voice dropped to a low, reassuring register. "I'll go with you to the shareholder meeting."

She shook her head. "There's no need. I can handle it myself."

He remained adamant. "I know you can. But I'm still going."

Seeing the earnest look in his eyes, a warm wave washed over her, and she didn't refuse again.

"Okay."

...

On the day of the meeting, Seraphina changed into a sharp black blazer over a crisp white blouse.

Though her baby bump was slightly visible, she radiated a sharp, professional energy.

Lucian drove her to the entrance of The Simmons Group headquarters himself.

"I'll be waiting right here," he said.

She nodded and stepped out of the car.

As she strode into the lobby, the receptionists exchanged subtle, complicated looks.
