Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 101

Tobias’ voice continued, “I’m just curious who this Stephanie is, to have tamed you into a completely whipped husband…”

“Whipped?”

Jonathan opened his eyes, a few strands of hair poking at his eyelids, which seemed to annoy him.

Tobias couldn’t see his expression, but he could guess it from the tone of his voice.

He chuckled. “A guy who can handle guns, doing the dishes? If that’s not whipped, what is?”

Jonathan didn’t argue. “You knew her before.”

Tobias paused, then something clicked. “No way. Jonathan, you don’t mean it’s Steph—”

Quennel instinctively turned his head, thinking he’d heard someone call Stephanie’s name.

Was she eating here too?

Quennel scanned the room. It was peak dinner time, and the restaurant was packed.

He looked for a while but couldn’t spot her. He only saw Tobias sitting at a table diagonally across from him.

Beside him, Victoria placed a freshly cooked piece of beef onto Quennel’s plate.

She asked, puzzled, “Quennel, is the food not to your liking? Why have you stopped eating?”

He must have misheard. Quennel shook his head and put down his utensils, his appetite gone. “I’m not hungry.”

Victoria also set down her fork. “I’m pretty much full. In that case, let’s go home.”

Quennel called the waiter over to pay the bill.

The moment they stood up, Victoria immediately linked her arm through his, smiling sweetly.

Quennel froze, instinctively trying to pull his arm away.

“Tsk, Quennel, you’re a grown man. Why are you so shy?”

“I said you cheated. Was I wrong?”

Tobias glanced from Quennel to Victoria, then flipped them the bird.

“Was I wrong? You did cheat, didn't you? Don't look at me like that... Fine, I'll drop it.”

Quennel, who had always prided himself on his composure, couldn’t take it anymore.

He suddenly raised his fist and swung, landing a punch squarely on Tobias' face.

He hadn't expected him to get violent.

Tobias' cheekbone swelled instantly.

There was no way he was going to take that lying down. Tobias rolled his tongue against the inside of his cheek and, without hesitation, threw a punch back.

In the middle of the restaurant, the two men started brawling.
