Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 108

“What’s your relationship?”

Stephanie's mind was a mess.

Jonathan showing up here couldn't be a coincidence.

Her gaze drifted to the bruised face of Tobias not far away, and she slowly started to piece things together.

So, Jonathan was here to bail out his friend too?

Jonathan slowly lowered his eyes. Seeing Stephanie staring into space, not answering Quennel's question, his lips tightened into a straight line.

Why wasn't she saying anything?

Did she not want Quennel to know about their relationship?

Jonathan frowned, an inexplicable wave of annoyance rising within him. His voice was cold. “Let’s go.”

That was clearly directed at Tobias behind him.

She clearly didn't want anything to do with him, so what was the point of him making a fool of himself?

Sensing the low pressure radiating from Jonathan, Tobias dropped his playful demeanor.

This was it. Jonathan was seriously pissed.

The night was dark and deep. As Jonathan turned, the air around him seemed to shift.

Stephanie’s breath caught, and she slowly came back to her senses.

Was he angry because she had bailed out Quennel, the man who had fought with his friend?

In that split second, Stephanie clutched the suit jacket around her and, on impulse, followed Jonathan.

Seeing Jonathan get into the driver's seat without a backward glance, Stephanie walked straight to the passenger side without hesitation.

She completely ignored Quennel's shocked expression behind her.

Tobias had just opened the passenger door when Stephanie bent down, slid into the seat before him, and gave him a slight nod. “Thank you.”

Her smile was sweet, like strawberry candy. Tobias was momentarily stunned, his irritation vanishing as he sheepishly moved to the back seat.

Tears uncontrollably welled up and slid from the corners of her eyes, landing on Jonathan's black suit and quickly disappearing.

An immense wave of sadness washed over her, enveloping her completely.

Who kicks their wife out of the car in the middle of the night?

Bailing out the cheater was already humiliating enough.

Jonathan frowned, seemingly confused as to why she had suddenly started crying.

A few strands of hair from her low ponytail rested on her slender shoulders. The knit dress had a V-neck, and her waist was so thin it looked like two hands could easily wrap around it.

The suit jacket couldn't hide her stunning figure. As she sobbed, her shoulders trembled, as if he had bullied her terribly.

Jonathan stared at Stephanie for a long moment, then reached up to loosen his collar, trying to ease a sudden surge of heat.

Her tears felt like they were searing his heart.

“Tobias, I told you to get out. Didn't you hear me?” Jonathan urged impatiently.
