Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 232

Stephanie’s fingers trembled as she opened Twitter to check.

It was true.

But Quennel had always been so straightforward. With all this attention, why would he suddenly like a tweet like that? Wasn’t he just fanning the flames?

Stephanie had always believed that relationships were private matters, best kept out of the public eye.

Besides, Quennel was the one at fault.

Where did he get the nerve to pretend to be the heartbroken lover, publicly reminiscing about their past?

Stephanie was speechless. She felt like she didn’t even know him anymore.

She sighed and said, “Whatever. The hype will die down eventually.”

After all, it wasn’t like she could physically stop him from liking a tweet.

Cecilia took a bite of her food. “But what if Jonathan finds out? Won’t he get jealous? Maybe you should call and explain things to him.”

“He’s on a business trip, and there’s a time difference. Besides, he’s busy with work. I doubt he has time to notice any of this.”

The trip was to Aurelia, a sparsely populated region with poor signal. Steven had told her Jonathan’s schedule was packed, so she didn’t want to bother him.

And explain?

What was there to explain?

She had made things perfectly clear with Quennel at the Gonzalez family's gathering.

She couldn’t let herself get paranoid just because Quennel liked a single tweet.

It would make her look like she was still hung up on him.

Time flew by, and four full days had passed since Jonathan left for his trip.

Stephanie considered it for a moment, then agreed.

This was the negotiation phase, and a few rounds of back-and-forth were to be expected.

Zachary chose a seven-star hotel for their meeting.

Coincidentally, it was the same hotel owned by the Yates family, just downstairs from where Susan’s birthday party had been held.

As soon as Stephanie sat down, she got straight to the point. “Mr. Wright, how would you like to proceed with our discussion about the partnership?”

“No need to rush. You just got here. Let’s relax, order some food. See if there’s anything you like.”

This time, Zachary was clearly trying to play the friendship card. He’d swapped his business suit for casual clothes.

Stephanie was hungry, so she didn’t stand on ceremony.

When Zachary handed her the menu, she picked a few dishes she wanted.
