He quickly tried to mediate. "My sister doesn't know any better, Jonathan. I apologize on her behalf! I'll have Tobias treat you to dinner another day! Please, be merciful!"
Benson had some connection with Tobias and hoped Jonathan would grant him this favor.
Only then did Jonathan release his grip. His face was cold, his voice even colder. "There won't be a next time."
Benson quickly replied, "I understand, Jonathan!"
Watching Jonathan leave in the elevator, Benson glared at Vivian, furious at her foolishness.
"Look at you, a grown woman, speaking so recklessly! Don't you have any idea who Jonathan is?"
After the Yates family offended him at the birthday banquet, their stock price had been in a freefall, and their business had been in a slump ever since.
Jonathan had countless ways to make the Yates family suffer, yet Vivian had decided to poke the bear.
Vivian's eyes were red. "Stephanie stole Quennel! But he's my boyfriend now! I just can't stomach this!"
"So what if you can't? You think you can take your anger out on Jonathan?"
Benson felt his sister was completely single-minded, with no sense of tact.
"Besides, I told you long ago that Quennel had someone else in his heart. You were the one who insisted on dating him. Who can you blame? If you can't stand it, just break up with him."
"I don't care! Stephanie seduced my man, and I'll be her sworn enemy for life! I want Jonathan to hate her too!"
How could Vivian bear to break up with Quennel?
She had finally become his girlfriend, even if it was a secret. She firmly believed that one day, Quennel would marry her.
Benson sighed. "Vivian, Mrs. Zade married our father. That makes Stephanie part of our family! Don't be so extreme."
Vivian sneered at his words. "In our family, you're the only one who treats Stephanie as family. Go ask Dad if he considers her family! And Jonathan—did he just treat you and me like he was dealing with Stephanie's relatives?"
Benson was at a loss for words.
He knew what had really happened tonight, that Quennel had come to rescue Stephanie, but he couldn't say it.
Benson knew his sister. If Vivian found out that Stephanie had nearly been assaulted by three men, the story would be all over town by morning, destroying Stephanie's reputation.
It would only make things worse.
…
Downstairs.
Steven noticed Jonathan's dark expression and asked cautiously, "Boss, where are we going now?"
Grace gave him the money and told him to buy it himself.
The five-year-old child was already learning to shop independently, with no servant by his side.
But when he returned with the candied fruit, he couldn't find Grace anywhere.
He searched from day to night, crying until he was on the verge of collapse. His mother never came, but two menacing traffickers did.
"Looking for your mommy, little boy? She sold you to us. Come with me."
The memories were not pleasant. Jonathan leaned against the car seat and loosened his tie.
He had only been gone for five days.
Just five days, and his wife had run off with another man.
Jonathan said coldly, "To the villa!"
Even if Stephanie really had run off with Quennel…
He was going to go and get his wife back himself!
