Next Man, Better Plan novel Chapter 81

If the file had been saved a long time ago, it was possible she’d simply forgotten about it. But the timestamp was a mere three minutes before the incident, which clearly showed Victoria’s backup was premeditated.

To call it a coincidence would be stretching it too far.

A seed of doubt was planted in everyone’s mind.

Stephanie watched Victoria's theatrical performance.

This woman was a true master at playing innocent.

Suddenly, Stephanie turned around. “It shouldn’t be too hard to find out who really spilled the latte just now. Our office's security camera might be down, but the one in the office next door is still working.”

At her words, everyone exchanged glances.

Victoria’s heart leaped into her throat. She immediately glanced next door. The offices were separated by transparent floor-to-ceiling glass, making them visible to one another.

But her desk was in the far back corner. The neighboring camera probably wouldn’t catch anything, because a large projector screen happened to be blocking the view of her area.

Victoria felt a wave of relief.

Someone else noticed this as well. “If your own office camera didn’t catch it, the one next door is too far away to see anything useful.”

Stephanie just smiled without a word and looked at Hobart. “What’s the password for the security feed?”

Hobart quickly typed on his computer and logged in.

He rewound the footage to thirty minutes prior. As expected, it only showed the projector screen and nothing else. Even the two women were completely obscured by the screen.

Victoria, standing to the side, finally breathed a full sigh of relief.

Everyone had been hoping for a dramatic twist, but now it seemed pointless. They figured Stephanie was just making a last-ditch effort.

Victoria's face turned a ghastly shade of pale as words like “manipulative” and “two-faced” filled her ears, making her want to disappear.

Troy’s face was etched with disappointment. “Victoria, what do you have to say for yourself? Why would you do this?”

Victoria bit her lip, hesitating.

Serena spoke up. “Why else? Stephanie stole Victoria’s boyfriend! Who wouldn’t be furious in that situation?

Victoria was actually going easy on her. If it were me, I probably would’ve thrown the latte right in Stephanie’s face.”

Hearing this explanation, a wave of understanding passed through the crowd.

If that was the case, Victoria’s actions were somewhat understandable. After all, who doesn’t despise the other woman who wrecks a happy relationship?

Stephanie turned to Serena, her lips curling into a mocking smile. “You love sticking your neck out, don’t you? What did Victoria promise you?”
