The blackened scabs flaked away, revealing fresh, untouched skin beneath. Not a single mark remained.
Underneath his blood–soaked, shredded clothes, his body was rebuilding itself, layer after layer. His muscles looked perfectly carved, charged with power and barely restrained force.
Then the wall of ice dissolved.
Marcus opened his eyes slowly. That brief flash of icy blue in his silver irises disappeared just as fast. His gaze was glacial–razor- sharp and ancient, like a frozen tundra buried for a thousand years.
“Marcus just ranked up.”
Emma’s wide–eyed stare stayed locked on him. The knot in her chest finally loosened.
“Yeah, he did. And Dahlia’s gone.”
Kieran gave her a warm smile.
“Too bad I never even got to lift a finger.”
Emma shot him a glance.
“That is fine. Even if you had not stepped in, I still would have figured out what you are hiding.”
She turned back toward the battlefield.
Once she made sure nothing else was coming, she spun around and bolted across the deck, rushing to find Calum and Marcus.
Marcus stood still, staring down at Dahlia’s corpse.
Without a word, he summoned a ball of cold blue flame and hurled it at her body.
The second the fire made contact, her corpse crumbled to ash.
Rumors said creatures like her could fake their deaths.
Now she was nothing but dust. Now he could be sure.
“Calum! Marcus!”
Emma blinked across the battlefield in a flash and appeared beside them.
“Emy.”
Calum appeared the moment he spotted her.
“You are not hurt, right?”
Emma looked him over in a rush.
He reached for her hand and placed it on his chest.

“No. I am good.”
She relaxed.
“What about you, Marcus?”
As Marcus walked over, she stepped up and scanned him from top to bottom.

Now that he had ranked up, his whole face looked different. His features were sharper. That half–dead look had vanished. His face carried a cold, dangerous edge now.
And his eyes–
They were colder than before. Deeper too. Just meeting his gaze made her chest tighten.
“Ms. Tibarn, I healed when I ranked up.”
His voice was low, calm, and icy.
He leaned down, resting his chin lightly on her shoulder. His voice still had that chill, but now it was laced with weariness.
“I just came out of a brutal fight. Then the breakthrough hit me. I am drained. I want you to sleep with me tonight.”
His wounds had vanished, but the blood on his ruined clothes told a different story.
Emma reached up and gave his back a gentle pat. Her voice dropped to a whisper.
“Let us head back to the ship. You can clean up, change, and I will stay with you while you rest.”
“Alright.”
His damp hair brushed against her ear.
The three of them returned to the ship not long after.
The moment Marcus stepped inside, Corvin looked up.
“Marcus, judging from how you look, I figured you would want to get cleaned up first. The bath’s ready. Go soak for a bit.”
The ship had its own bathroom.
t used to be a basic standing shower. But once Corvin noticed Emma was not comfortable with it, he remodeled it into a proper
After what Marcus had just gone through, Corvin figured a long soak would help him relax.
‘Thanks.”
Marcus gave him a nod, then gently let go of Emma.
‘Ms. Tibarn, wait for me. I will not be long.”
Emma nodded. “I will be right here. Go on.”

Chapter 614 Breakthrough –
As Marcus headed off, she turned to Silas.
“Call Edric and Malrik back. Now that Dahlia is out of the picture, it is time to return to Central Planet.”
“They have already been informed,” Silas replied.

Meanwhile-
Malrik stood face–to–face with Lily. She had not said a single word. Her eyes were glued to the video feed on her tablet, lips parted
in shock.
His tone was cold.
“You saw the footage. That thing pretending to be Dahlia? She was one of them. Tell me what she gave you. Whatever she offered that made you betray us–hand it over.
“You two were awfully cozy. The Imperial Security Agency is going to want a word with you when we get back.”
Lily looked like her soul had left her body.
Every screen on her tablet showed the same thing–Dahlia transforming into a monster, followed by the brutal fight between her and Marcus and Calum.
“I did not know she was one of them! I swear I did not!”
She burst into tears and clutched Malrik’s arm.
She might have been a fool, but she was not brainless.
Those things were revolting. And dangerous. If she had known what Dahlia really was, nothing on this earth would have gotten her near her.
“Please, you have to help me! I am begging you!”
She reached out again, but Malrik stepped out of her
grasp.
“If you want my help, then talk. Tell me everything she made you do. And hand over whatever she gave you.
“If you do not, then get ready to spend the rest of your life on Sunken Isle.”
Sunken Isle was the Empire’s prison for females who committed serious crimes.
