Nine Hot Therians and Their Only One Queen novel Chapter 713

Chapter 713 He’s Not a Bad Male

Emma had just been told she looked good, and on top of that, she had successfully climbed up the rank ladder. Naturally, her mood was soaring.

She shot Jim a smug look and lifted her chin. Well, at least you’ve got good taste.

He looked at her bright, carefree smile. For some reason, a strange feeling suddenly stirred in his chest.

The spot where my heart sits feels like something soft bumps into it. It doesn’t hurt. It just feelsa little ticklish.

The sensation was unfamiliar. It left him oddly flustered, unsure what to do with himself.

So he did the one thing that perfectly suited his personality.

Without a word, he pulled his gaze away. Then he sank back onto the couch and turned himself into a completely motionless lump of soft dough.

He figured if he stayed perfectly still, maybe his heart would calm down and stop beating like it had a mind of its own.

Except this time, things did not quite work. His eyes stayed fixed on the ceiling. But out of the corner of his eye, his gaze kept drifting sideways toward her. Again and again, he caught himself sneaking glances in her direction.

When Emma saw him about to turn into a corpse on the couch again, she set her coffee cup down with a soft clink.

Then she reached out, grabbed his wrist, and yanked upward. Hey. Don’t fall asleep. It’s still early. The sun isn’t even close to setting. Come with me to the Interstellar Hunter Alliance. I need to turn in the mission from before.

She finished speaking and tugged him again. But he stayed stuck to the couch like a piece of melted caramel, clearly unwilling to

move.

Her expression instantly went cold. Fine, she snapped. If you won’t come, I’ll just go by myself. I know the way anyway.”

She loosened her grip and turned as if she were about to leave.

Jim’s gaze dropped to the hand wrapped around his wrist.

Her hand felt soft. Cool in an oddly comfortable way. The light brush of her fingers against his skin sent a faint, tingling numbness across his wrist.

He pressed his lips together. That strange racing feeling in his chest came back again. This time, it hit even harder than before.

Almost without thinking, he followed the pull of her arm and sprang to his feet in one swift motion.

Go,” he muttered, head lowered. Just a single word, his voice quiet and slightly muffled.

Good. Let’s go then.Seeing that he had finally gotten up, Emma released him and headed for the door.

Jim followed behind her without saying a word.

The two of them stepped out of the house, one after the other.

Outside, the gentle breeze brushed past them. It only made Emma’s mood even lighter.

Several days have passed, so Kieran and Lucien must have arrived already. Maybe they’re already waiting for me at the Interstellar

Hunter Alliance.

Jim walked behind her, watching the light, springy rhythm of her steps. He could tell she was in a really good mood.

Emma.He suddenly called out her name.

It was the first time he had ever said it. And this time, he was the one who spoke first,

She stopped walking and turned around. What? Are you tired again? We’ve barely walked a few steps.

He looked at her and shook his head. Not tired.

His long lashes cast a faint shadow across his eyelids, hiding whatever emotion lay in his eyes.

Five seconds passed in silence before he finally spoke again. Lucien and Kieran are here.

As Jim said, he lifted his head and looked toward the direction of the Interstellar Hunter Alliance. His voice stayed flat, almost unreadable. Are yougoing back with them?

Emma slowed to a stop. She turned toward him, putting on a look of surprise. They found this place already? That fast?

He watched her reaction without saying a word. Jim might be quiet, but he was not stupid. The day she went to the Interstellar Hunter Alliance to pick up a mission, he had already figured out what she was planning. He simply chose not to call her out on it.

When he stayed silent, Emma could not quite read what was going on in his head. After a moment, she spoke again, testing the waters. Since Lucien and the others have already found this place, they must be waiting for me over there. Will you let me go?

Emma knew the issue was not whether she wanted to leave. Of course she did. The real question was whether Jim would actually allow it.

Jim looked at her. Several seconds of silence stretched between them before he finally spoke. Would you go with them?he asked.

She suddenly had nothing to say.
