A voice rang out from behind the door. "What would you like to eat, Ms. Liddell? I can have the kitchen prepare it for you."
Noelle looked at the figure through the hatch and asked, "I can have anything I want?"
"Of course."
Noelle's heart sank seeing how respectful the figure behind the door was. She could not even bring herself to be happy. She just said, "I want some bagels and hot dogs."
"Alright, I'll have them prepared right away."
Noelle waited for a while, and the voice returned, bringing over some bagels and hot dogs. The food all looked rather appetizing.
However, Noelle looked at the food and said, "I suddenly don't have an appetite anymore. You can take it away."
"Ms. Liddell, are you feeling unwell?"
Noelle replied calmly, "I just don't feel like eating, that's all."
"Ms. Liddell, please let us know if you're feeling unwell anywhere whatsoever."
Noelle just turned away and sat on the edge of the bed without answering.
By noon, the same voice returned with her lunch. "Ms. Liddell, here's your lunch. We can change it for you any time you like if there's anything you want."
Noelle took a look at the dishes and recognized them to be delicacies from her hometown, some of her personal favorites. To be precise, they were her favorites in her past life.
The strange feeling in her heart grew even stronger. She looked out the hatch and said, "I'm not eating anything until I see your boss."
Noelle decided that she would rather starve to death if she could not figure out what the gilded cage around her was about. The voice set down the tray and replied, "Please enjoy your meal while you wait. I'll notify the boss right away."
Noelle remained still even after the voice disappeared. She just wanted to wait for the boss to show up.
Meanwhile, Carl already knew what Noelle was planning to do. He watched her expression through the surveillance feed and could, for the most part, already guess her intentions.
