Noelle hadn't expected to find herself back on this island. In her past life, this was the last place she'd been before she died, where she'd lost a kidney and had her face ruined.

Carl nodded. "That's right, but you'll be very safe here." He was sure that no one would ever hurt her again.

Noelle let out a mocking laugh and demanded. "Give me my phone."

Ignoring her words, Carl continued, "Just rest here for now. You can have whatever you want to eat or drink.

"Oh, and didn't you say you love the ocean? The view is beautiful, and you can always go shopping, walk on the beach, or even go diving if you like."

Noelle's outstretched hand slowly curled into a fist. Her eyes were calm as she repeated herself. "I said—give me my phone."

Right now, she wasn't in the best mood for diving. All she wanted was to reach out to Cedric and find out what'd happened all this time.

Why had she been unconscious for so long, and how had she even ended up on the island at all?

Carl met her stare for a few seconds before saying, "You can't use a phone here for now, so focus on your recovery."

With that, he turned to leave, but Noelle ran after him and asked, "Are you trying to keep me here?"

"It's not about keeping you here, but because your body needs recovery, this island is the safest place for you to heal. Calling outsiders won't change that."

"It's just a call. How does that even matter?" Noelle snapped back. Then, she looked him dead in the eyes and asked, "Did you bring me here on your own? Does Cedric even know?"

"Of course he does, but he agreed to this for your health."

He turned back to face her fully and made a promise. "Stop overthinking it. When you're much better, you'll get your phone back."

"You think I'm going to believe that?"
