No longer a pushover (Noelle and Cedric) novel Chapter 1412

Ironically, Noelle had been wondering if the scam center's boss had kidnapped her and suspected their motives, only to discover that the real betrayal came from the Liddells.

As she sat at the edge of the bed, she tried to figure out what Carl was really after. What was the point of locking her up?

…

Soon, night fell. When someone brought Noelle dinner, she stared at them and snapped, "I'm not eating! Take it away!"

"Please have something to eat, Ms. Liddell. Mr. Liddell had these ingredients flown in just for you. He really does care about you."

"I said I'm not eating it!" she yelled and swept the tray off the hatch. Her message couldn't have been clearer. She didn't sleep a wink that night. In her mind, all she could do was replay what'd happened in her past life.

The next morning, Carl brought breakfast to her room. Noelle stayed lying in bed and did not even bother to get up, while he sat at the edge and softly said, "Eat something, alright?"

"I'd rather die than stay locked up in here," she snapped. Her face was pale from exhaustion from staying up all night, but when she looked at Carl, her eyes burned bright with defiance.

Carl pressed his lips together and suddenly said, "Just give it a month."

"What do you mean by a month?"

"Stay on the island for a month, and I'll let you go after that."

Noelle frowned. "It doesn't matter if it's a month or a year because my answer won't change. Unless you send me back right now, I'll never forgive you for this or see you again!"

"I didn't mean for things to end up like they did in our past lives. Is there anything wrong with me wanting to fix what's broken between us?

"We're family, and we were turned against each other by other people's lies. You've got justice for Mom and Dad, so why can't we fix things, too?" Carl sounded genuinely confused.
