**TITLE: My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom**
**Chapter 115: Hannah Being Dealt With**
Ethan raced home the instant his phone buzzed with the urgent message. His heart pounded against his chest as he navigated the familiar streets, each turn amplifying his anxiety.
Upon entering his home, a wave of fury washed over him at the sight that greeted him.
“Mom! What on earth are you doing?!” he exclaimed, stepping forward instinctively to shield Hannah and her daughter, Isla, from whatever storm Grace was brewing.
Grace’s eyes blazed with indignation as she regarded her son. How dare he leap to conclusions without even bothering to understand the situation? Her anger flared, hotter than a raging inferno.
Her gaze cut sharply to Hannah, a look of contempt etched on her face. “Hannah, what are you crying about now? What’s this act you’re putting on?”
“I’ve found a new place for you and your daughter,” she continued, her voice dripping with disdain. “It’s a downtown apartment, fully furnished, and about a thousand square feet. I’m not tossing you under a bridge. I’m not out to ruin your life.”
She paused, letting her words sink in, her tone a mix of sarcasm and irritation. “And I’m not even charging you rent. I never told you to quit your job at the branch office. With your salary, you could easily support your daughter on your own. So why are you still clinging to my son like a life raft?”
“Do you honestly think no one sees through your little game?” she added, her voice rising in intensity.
Hannah’s body shook, her fear palpable, and she looked as if she might crumble at any moment.
In a sudden burst of energy, little Isla broke free from her mother’s embrace. She darted toward Ethan, wrapping her tiny arms around his leg. Her voice, innocent yet filled with the weight of accusation, rang out. “Grace was so mean to Mom! She wants to throw us out on the street like beggars, and she hit Mom!”
Grace’s jaw dropped in disbelief.
How could a child so young lie so effortlessly and so audaciously?
Rage surged within her, darkening her vision as she pointed an accusing finger at Hannah.
“Hannah! It’s one thing for you to harbor ill intentions, but how could you teach your daughter these vile tricks? She’s just a child! And here you are, instilling in her the art of deceit and false accusations against her elders?!”
Hannah’s sobs intensified, tears cascading down her cheeks like a river of despair.
With a heart-wrenching expression that she had mastered over time, she looked up at Grace. “Isla didn’t lie. She spoke the truth.”
Ethan surveyed the chaotic scene unfolding before him, his heart heavy with turmoil. He glanced at his mother, who stood resolute and unyielding, her stance unwavering.
In that moment, he felt his loyalty teetering precariously.
Deep down, he believed Hannah and Isla. His brow furrowed with concern.
“Mom, I promised Jack I would take care of them for the rest of my life. Can you please stop meddling?”
“Stop meddling?!” Grace’s laughter was laced with disbelief and anger. “Ethan! Taking care of them doesn’t mean allowing this woman to create chaos wherever she goes, making a mess of things, and driving your wife away! Don’t you care about Amelia at all?”
