No Sex for Six Years Because of Her? I'm Done novel Chapter 129

**TITLE: My Heart Waited Too Long and Choosing Freedom**

**Chapter 129: The Phone Call**

As the door clicked shut behind David and Beatrice, Ethan found himself momentarily alone with Mason, a rare opportunity to discuss potential future collaborations. The air was thick with unspoken possibilities, and Ethan’s mind raced with thoughts of business ventures and shared interests.

But just as he was about to engage Mason in conversation, his phone buzzed insistently in his pocket. It was Hannah.

Initially, he hesitated, his finger hovering over the screen to decline the call. Yet, the phone rang again, louder this time, as if demanding his attention. Under Mason’s watchful gaze, which held a hint of amusement, Ethan felt a wave of discomfort wash over him.

With a forced smile that felt more like a grimace, he snatched his phone and rose from his seat, making a beeline for the balcony that overlooked the garden. The moment he answered, however, he was met not with Hannah’s familiar voice, but with the panicked tone of Isla.

“Ethan, boohoo, please come quickly! Mommy fainted! I don’t know what to do…”

His heart sank, and all thoughts of business and familial obligations vanished in an instant, replaced by a surge of anxiety.

“Isla, don’t be scared! I’ll be right there!” he reassured her, his voice firm despite the turmoil inside.

He ended the call abruptly, his heart racing as he hurried back into the living room. “Something urgent came up at the company,” he announced, urgency lacing his words. “I have to go handle it now!”

Before he could even gauge their reactions, he was out the door, a whirlwind of determination and worry.

Amelia watched him leave with a knowing glint in her eyes, a hint of sarcasm creeping into her expression. This was an all-too-familiar scene, one she had witnessed many times since Hannah’s return.

Mason, ever the inquisitive one, turned his attention to Grace, who sat frozen in a mix of embarrassment and concern. “Is the Rowe Group really struggling this badly? He can’t even finish a meal at home without being called away?”

“No!” Grace exclaimed, her nerves getting the better of her as she wiped her clammy hands on her dress. “The company has taken on several large new projects recently, and Ethan insists on overseeing everything himself. I’m so sorry you had to witness this, Mason.”

Fiona, seated nearby, let out a resigned sigh, her expression a mixture of disappointment and understanding.

“Amelia, why don’t you take Mason for a stroll in the garden? Let him see where you live,” she suggested, her tone gentle yet authoritative.

After Amelia and Mason made their exit, Fiona turned her gaze back to Grace, her eyes as calm as still waters hiding a storm beneath. “You, come with me to the estate. I need to retrieve something.”
