Chapter 202 Nothing Else
“How have you been recovering these past few days?” he asked.
“It’s … it’s okay,” Amelia answered vaguely.

“All right.” Mason nodded, then calmly picked out a piece of boneless fish and placed it on her plate. As if speaking casually, he added, “Hayden doesn’t have school tomorrow. He’ll come by to see you.”
Amelia froze for a moment, then heard him continue, “In a few days, Mom and Evan will also be back from overseas.”
“What?” This time, Amelia was truly surprised. She lifted her head sharply. “So soon? Didn’t you say it would be another half a month?”
“Mom was worried after she heard you were injured,” Mason explained, still very calm. “She was afraid I wouldn’t take good care of you, so she moved her schedule up.”
“How did Nora find out?” Amelia’s heart jumped at once.
The thought of Nora knowing she was staying here to recover made Amelia feel uneasy.
“Hayden,” Mason replied briefly. “He let it slip during a phone call.”
So that was it.
Amelia relaxed a little.
After dinner, Amelia immediately asked Tania to push her back to her room, as if she were running away from something.
However, she didn’t get peace for long.
About half an hour later, there was a light knock on her door.
“Come in.”
The door opened, and Mason’s tall figure appeared in the doorway.
He walked in holding several thick hardcover books.
“I was worried you might be bored, so I brought you a few books to pass the time,” he said, placing them on the nightstand. They were all classic books on fashion design.
Amelia looked at his face, which seemed even more refined under the soft light.

No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t connect the man in front of her with the one who had silently brought her pajamas earlier.
The question she had been holding down in her heart could no longer stay still.
She wanted to ask, but felt embarrassed.
How would I face him after asking?
How awkward would it be if he admitted it?
And if he denied it, then who had it been?
Her conflicted expression was obvious.
Mason’s eyes seemed to see right through her.
After a long moment, he finally spoke and broke the tense silence.
“Is there something you want to ask me?”
She decided to take the risk.
Amelia finally asked softly, “Was the person who brought me my clothes earlier …
you?”
The moment the words left her mouth, she was so nervous that even her fingertips trembled.
To her surprise, there was no shock or awkwardness on Mason’s face.
He simply met her gaze calmly and admitted it without hesitation. “Yes.”
His answer sent Amelia’s heartbeat completely out of control.
When he saw her face turn bright red, a faint smile flashed in his eyes before he explained, “When I came back, I heard you calling.
“Tania was busy in the kitchen and probably didn’t hear you. I was worried you’d stay in there too long and catch a cold when the water cooled, so…”
Mason’s explanation made perfect sense.
But Amelia’s cheeks only grew hotter. She could almost feel the blood rushing beneath her skin.
Seeing her discomfort, Mason paused and added another line, clearly trying to reassure her.

“There was a lot of steam in the bathroom, so I couldn’t see clearly. And I kept my face turned away the whole time.”
He thought this explanation would put her at ease, but it had the opposite effect.
