It would crush the Rowe Group.

Mason replied evenly, “What were the terms when I signed the contract? Have you forgotten already?”
Ethan’s shout cut off abruptly, his entire body freezing in place.
Ethan still remembered clearly that on the day of the signing, Mason had looked at him and said only one thing.
“I’ll sign the contract, but you must treat Amelia well. If I ever find out she’s been wronged, every cooperation between us can be terminated at any time.”
Back then, he’d taken it as nothing more than an older brother’s concern for his sister and hadn’t truly taken it to heart.
But now…
A chill crept up Ethan’s spine.
He couldn’t help but wonder whether Mason’s willingness to sign back then had been calculated from the very beginning.
“But…” Ethan felt guilty, yet still unwilling to concede as he defended himself. “I haven’t done anything to wrong Amelia. She’s the one who’s been restless, and she’s the one who wronged me first.”
“Is that really so?”
Mason let out a cold snort, his voice edged with anger.
“Since I returned, in just this short span of time, how many times has Amelia been hurt because of you? How many times has she been pushed into the spotlight? How many dangers has she faced?
“And every single time she needed you most, you–the so–called husband–were absent.
“Ethan, I didn’t want to take things this far. But you kept allowing her to be hurt again and again.
“So now, this divorce isn’t a discussion…
“It’s a notice. Do you understand?”

Mason assumed that after being caught once, Amelia would behave and stay in her room, no longer trying to listen in.
What he didn’t know was that inside the studio, Amelia had installed tiny cameras in several inconspicuous corners.
At this moment, in the small room on the second floor.
Amelia was curled up on the bed, the image on her phone screen showing the live feed of the living room downstairs.
So she saw Ethan’s struggle, and she heard Mason’s relentless pressure.
And when she heard Mason use the project as leverage, demanding with absolute force that Ethan divorce her, her eyes widened as she stared at the man’s cool, composed features on the
screen.
An unfamiliar tremor rippled through her chest.
The man on the screen still had bandages wrapped around his arm, yet his figure stood tall like a mountain that could shield her from any storm.
Downstairs, the confrontation had already reached a boiling point.
Ethan’s mind buzzed loudly.
Every word from Mason landed like a heavy punch, leaving him utterly unable to fight back.
He had thought he could balance things well between Amelia and Hannah and her mother- believing his occasional absence and perfunctory responses were nothing more than harmless footnotes in a marriage.
He never imagined that every moment of neglect and hurt he inflicted on Amelia had been seen by Mason, recorded one by one in a mental ledger.
Only now did he finally understand.
From the moment he tried to use Amelia’s relationship with Mason to secure cooperation with the Everetts, he had already lost.
His short–sighted scheming was nothing more than willingly offering his own neck to a true predator’s fangs.
His weakness had been seized.
And Mason clearly had no intention of giving him time to think.

He stepped closer and issued the ultimatum once more. “Ethan, I’ll ask you again. Do you want to continue this project and stabilize your already crumbling position in the Rowe Group, or do you want to cling shamelessly to a marriage that binds Amelia until I leave you with nothing?
“How do you choose?”
On one side was a family empire on the brink of collapse. On the other hand, his unwillingness to let go of his wife.
Ethan’s Adam’s apple bobbed violently.
He clenched his teeth, the last scraps of pride still struggling.
“No… I won’t agree to divorce Amelia.”
“Very well.” Mason nodded, but there wasn’t a trace of approval in his dark eyes. “Then can you accept watching the entire Rowe family–from top to bottom–fall from grace and become penniless nobodies?”
“You…” Ethan choked instantly.
The words “So what if I do” rolled around his tongue countless times, yet he couldn’t force them out.
He didn’t dare gamble.
He could swallow his pride and bow his head to Mason.
But he couldn’t gamble the entire Rowe Group on whether Mason would really be that ruthless.
Cornered, a flash of inspiration suddenly struck Ethan’s mind.
He jerked his head up, abruptly turning the spearhead of the conversation toward the other
man.
“In that case, Mason, you’re the real mastermind behind all of this,
“You planned it from the start. You went to such lengths to tear Amelia and me apart, forcing us to divorce. What exactly is your purpose?”
He stared at Mason, as if he’d finally found a crack in his armor. “Unless … your feelings for her were never as simple as those between siblings?!”
The instant the words fell.
Mason’s gaze froze.
