Chapter 430 The Parasite
Ethan helped his shaky mother to the wall and let her lean there for support. Then his cold eyes moved to Derek.
“Go on,” Ethan said, his face dark. “What exactly do you want?”
Derek felt uneasy under that stare, but the fear quickly faded. Years of acting shameless took over. He lifted his chin, trying to sound like a father giving orders. “Ethan, no matter what, I’m still your father. Is this how you talk to me?”
“Shut up!” Grace shouted sharply. “How dare you call yourself his father? While Ethan was growing up, how many days did you take care of him? How many times did you hold him? What right do you have to call yourself his dad?”
“Mom, calm down. Grandma is still in emergency treatment. Everyone needs to stay calm.”
Ethan comforted his mother, not because he felt soft toward Derek, but because he knew emotion was useless against someone like him.
He asked again, steady and direct, “I asked what you want.”
When Derek saw Ethan was willing to talk terms, greed flashed in his eyes.
He cleared his throat and stood straighter, acting like he had every right to make demands.
Since Ethan now fully controlled the company, Derek figured he could just ask his son for whatever he wanted.
And he said it without shame.
“My request is simple. I want you to arrange a job for your brother in the company. He’s family too. He shouldn’t be living outside with no name or status.”
Ethan’s jaw tightened.
Derek ignored the warning in Ethan’s face and kept going. “And about inheritance. Your grandfather was biased. He gave everything to you. That’s not fair. Your brother deserves half of everything you have now, including the shares, your real estate, and the yearly dividends. He’s blood too. Why should you keep it
all?”
Grace trembled with anger. She looked like she might faint from his shamelessness.
After hearing all this, the icy look on Ethan’s face suddenly eased a little.
Grace’s lips shook. She couldn’t even curse anymore. The anger was beyond words. She held onto the wall, almost collapsing.
Ethan suddenly let out a short laugh.
He spoke slowly, “That’s all?”

Derek was stunned by the way he looked at him. For a moment, he didn’t even know how to react.
“You worked so hard and pushed Grandma into the ER for this?”
Ethan’s voice turned colder. “Why not go further? Maybe I should just hand the CEO position to your precious bastard too?”
Derek’s face turned red with anger. “Watch your mouth! He’s still your brother!”
But when the CEO was mentioned, Derek immediately backed off.
“Who said I wanted the CEO job?”
Derek knew very well.
Being CEO sounded glamorous, but the reality was brutal.
Work nonstop. Endless meetings. Endless reports. Every decision is watched with countless eyes. The pressure alone could break a person.
Derek hated responsibility. He hated hard work.
What he really wanted was an easy life—sitting above it all, enjoying benefits without effort.
Ethan had built the empire. Derek just wanted to open his mouth and eat the fruit.
That was his parasitic way of living.
“I’m not that heartless,” Derek said, quickly changing his expression. He tried to stand on moral ground again, even looking generous. “I’m leaving you room. Taking half won’t kill you. The company is in your hands anyway. Move a finger, and you’ll earn it back.”
“You shameless snake!” Grace screamed.
She couldn’t take it anymore. She rushed forward, desperate to tear that ugly mouth apart.
Ethan grabbed her in time.
At that moment, the doors to the ER opened.
Grace froze.
The smug look on Derek’s face vanished.
All eyes turned to the door.
A doctor came out first, masked, exhausted, and serious.
