Chapter 436 Fiona’s Will
Someone suddenly whispered, “Fiona … is she slipping away?”
Ethan snapped his head around and glared at them.
The relative who spoke shrank back in fear and instantly fell silent.
Fiona slipped into deep unconsciousness again.

The doctor rushed in to check her. He frowned at the monitor, then looked at the crowded room and said. in a low, firm voice, “The patient’s condition is very unstable. She needs complete quiet. There are too many people in here. It’s affecting air flow. Everyone, please leave.”
No one dared argue. One by one, they walked out.
Only Grace and a caregiver were allowed to stay.
Ethan still held Amelia’s hand tightly as he led her out of the room.
But the moment the door closed, Amelia quickly pulled her hand free.
The forced warmth between them disappeared instantly.
Ethan’s hand hung in the air, empty.
Her open rejection cut deep.
He looked at her cold side profile. His throat moved as he swallowed. For the first time ever, he softened his voice and tried to explain.
“Y–You don’t misunderstand. I wasn’t trying to take advantage of you. I only did that in front of Grandma… you saw the situation.”
The old Ethan had always stood above everyone else. He was used to Amelia’s obedience and admiration. He had never needed to explain himself to her,
But now, he was afraid she would misunderstand him even more. Afraid even her last bit of pity for him would disappear.
Amelia simply replied with a cold, simple grunt.
“Mmm. Can I leave now? I still need to go to work.

“If anything changes with Fiona, just let me know. I’m not part of your family now. It’s not appropriate for me to stay here.”
Ethan’s heart sank, little by little.
He wanted to say something. Wanted to find any reason to make her stay just a little longer.
But right then, a middle–aged man in a black suit appeared at the end of the hallway.

He walked straight toward the group, his expression serious.
“It’s Mr. Zimmer,” someone whispered.
He was the legal advisor of the family and Fiona’s most trusted lawyer.
Oscar stopped in front of Ethan and gave a small nod. He said in a heavy, professional tone, “Mr. Ethan, I just received a call from your grandmother assistant. Mrs. Fiona previously gave instructions. If she enters her final stage, I am to come immediately and discuss her will with the direct family members.”
The relatives around them immediately changed expressions. Their ears practically perked up.
But Amelia felt like she had just heard a signal of freedom.
Finally, she had a proper reason to leave.
The situation was the family’s private matter. As a divorced former daughter–in–law, she had no place here.
She started to walk away.
“Ms. Harlow, please wait.”
Oscar stopped her.
Amelia paused and turned back, confused.
Oscar adjusted his glasses and looked at her calmly.
“Mrs. Fiona specifically stated her wishes in her will that when it is read, you must be present.”
At the same time, at the hospital entrance, Hannah walked in gracefully, holding a large bouquet of carefully wrapped flowers.
The moment she heard Fiona was critically ill, she rushed over.
Of course, it wasn’t because she cared deeply about the strict old woman.
Hannah knew this was the perfect chance to show herself in front of Ethan.
He was at his weakest and needed comfort.
When she reached the inpatient entrance, she saw two bodyguards stopping a mother and son from entering.
The woman was a beautiful middle–aged lady who still looked charming. The young man beside her looked about twenty.
