His lips pressed tightly together, his eyes filled with painful struggle.

Just as the suffocating silence stretched on, the sharp ringing of a phone suddenly broke the tension.

Ethan glanced down and saw the name flashing on the screen–Hannah.

The phone rang again almost immediately. This time, before Ethan could react, a text message popped up first. It contained only two words, “Help me.”
