Chapter 519 Insults the Judge
A few junior designers who were close to Hannah quickly got the hint and started chiming in.
“Wow, you really can’t judge a person by their face. You think sleeping with a few old men will get you everywhere in the design world? In the end, this industry still runs on real talent!”
“Exactly. In design, the worst thing is taking shortcuts. What kind of quality work can someone produce if they only got here by using their body?”
Amelia listened to the harsh comments. Her eyebrow lifted slightly, but her face stayed calm.
She slowly put down the scoring sheet in her hand.
“Watch your mouth. Besides, I’m not here for the same reason you guys are.”
“Oh? And why’s that?” Hannah snapped. Seeing Amelia so calm only made her more annoyed. She let out a disdainful snort. “What, are you here to serve us coffee and wa
She glanced around proudly. When no one spoke up, the smug look on her face grew even stronger.
“Actually, that makes sense. It’s not like you have your own brand. Weren’t you just running a tiny studio making evening gowns? Let’s be real, that just makes you a seamstress, doesn’t it?”
She deliberately avoided mentioning Amelia’s position as the design director at Stardale Group.
Hannah’s lackeys got excited and started talking over each other, continuing to mock Amelia.
“Yeah, I heard her little workshop is about to shut down.”
“A seamstress is just a seamstress. Why’s she trying so hard to hang out with real designers? She should know her place.”
“Hannah is different. I heard she spent a fortune on this piece and even hired a top international team to make it!”
“Duh, she actually has talent. She’s not like some people who only know how to play dirty.”
Their words were full of mockery and malice.
But Amelia just listened quietly. Her expression didn’t change at all.
Her slender fingers lightly rubbed the scoring sheet in her hand. Deep in her eyes, a cold glint flashed for a
moment.
She wasn’t in a hurry to expose anything.
Because she knew real talent never needed arguments to prove itself.
And some people’s stupidity and arrogance would eventually be exposed by reality.
Just when Hannah and her followers‘ mocking reached its peak, a commotion came from the entrance.

Then a staff member’s respectful voice echoed through the microphone across the hall. “Ladies and gentlemen, please give a warm round of applause to welcome the Chair of the Judging Panel for this year’s competition–Mr. Elliot Carrington!”
He was a legend in Cindara’s design world, a master who was basically retired. Normally, even big competitions couldn’t get an invitation to reach him. No one expected him to personally come and serve as the head judge.
The arrogance on Hannah’s face instantly froze.
She understood the rule of stepping on the weak and pleasing the powerful. In a situation like this, leaving a bad impression on the head judge would be like digging her own grave.
Her expression changed. She quickly put on a charming smile.
It was as if the aggressive person from carlier had never been her. She casually patted one of her followers on the shoulder.
“Alright, guys, don’t say things like that,” she said, glancing meaningfully as Amelia. “We’re all here to compete. We shouldn’t judge people because of their background or past. In design, what really matters is skill.”
She even gave Amelia a “generous smile, acting like she was soothing things over for her, before strutting away with her confused followers.
She played it off like the whole scene was no big deal.
Once they left, the judge sitting next to Amelia leaned over and asked quietly, Ms. Harlow, what was that all about? Those contestants were way too arrogant. Why didn’t you just tell them who you are? Why put up with that?”
Amelia just smiled and flipped a page in her judge’s handbook. “Don’t you think this is more interesting?”
“This way, I get to see what their personalities are really like. Think of it as an extra test on top of their design skills. Isn’t that a good thing?”
Soon, all the judges were in their spots. The spotlight suddenly lit up the center of the stage.
The host held a cue card and announced loudly, Ladies and gentlemen, I now declare the finals of the Emerging Designers Competition officially open!”
The hall erupted in applause.
“The theme of this final round is one word: Grace.
“It can be elegance, charm, or spirit. We want to see how you designers use your creativity and skills to express this unique sense of Cindaran beauty.”
