Chapter 535 Spicy–Food Craving

Lily leaned closer mysteriously and lowered her voice. “The Cajun place over there… the gumbo is seriously delicious! I’m telling you, it’s an authentic old–style kind of stew. The more you eat, the more you crave it! I don’t know why, but lately I’ve been craving spicy food all the time. Maybe work’s been exhausting, and I just need something bold to wake me up.”

As she spoke, she rubbed her lower back as if it were no big deal.

Tim immediately played along and looked at Lily with a worried face. “Yeah, Ms. Rayne has been working way too hard for the company lately! I feel like you’ve lost several pounds.”

When Lily heard that, she immediately slapped Tim’s arm playfully and said sweetly, “No way! I actually gained three pounds, okay! This is all a workplace injury!”

Watching the two of them banter back and forth, Amelia couldn’t help but smile slightly.

This bickering couple was getting more and more interesting.

However, as she laughed, she suddenly remembered something, and her smile froze.

Tim glanced at the caller ID and immediately put on his wireless headset. “Yeah, right, we just left the estate and are heading toward the highway. I got it. Don’t worry, I’ll definitely take good care of her for you!”

Amelia didn’t even need to guess. The person on the other end must be Mason.

She shook her head helplessly.

Lily, who had heard the whole conversation, immediately turned to Amelia and teased her with a grin. “Oh wow, Mason is really thoughtful! He’s basically the perfect boyfriend! Tim has practically become a personal nanny.”

Amelia smiled and shot back, “What? Are you jealous?”

Lily curled her lips. “Not really. It actually suits him. That guy was born to work hard. The busier he is, the more energetic he gets.”

The three of them chatted and joked along the way, and the atmosphere was relaxed and cheerful.

From here to the neighboring city, the drive would take about three hours.

Lily took the medicine, but her face didn’t look much better. She seemed very drained and tired.

Amelia looked at Lily, and her suspicion grew deeper. “Lily, you never used to get carsick. What’s going on? You aren’t pregnant, are you?”

When Lily heard the word “pregnant, her eyes widened immediately. “That’s impossible! Don’t talk nonsense! Tim and I already agreed we won’t have children for the next two years!”

Amelia instinctively looked toward Tim in the driver’s seat.

Although Tim nodded in agreement after hearing Lily’s words, Amelia noticed that his expression darkened slightly for just a moment.

Because they had to take care of Lily, the three–hour drive took much longer than expected. They arrived at the city later than they had planned.

She pointed excitedly at the crowded restaurant across the street. “Let’s eat here later! Look, how many people are there, it must be really good!”

There was no sign at all of the weak, carsick woman from earlier.

Tim looked at her lively reaction and shook his head helplessly, though a doting smile appeared on his lips.

After putting their luggage in the hotel room, the three of them eagerly headed to the Cajun place.

However, just as Lily expected, there was a huge line outside. The number display showed that there were still many tables waiting ahead of them.

Tim looked at the crowded restaurant and the people waiting anxiously outside. After a moment of hesitation, he suggested, “Why don’t we find another place to eat? We might have to wait a long time here.”
