Chapter 537 Not Worth the Hype

In the end, the three of them waited in line outside the Cajun place for more than an hour before finally getting a table.
Lily had already rolled up her sleeves and eagerly started pointing at items on the menu.
However, maybe because their expectations were too high, when the first piece of sausage was taken out of the hot stew and popped into their mouths, the expressions on all three faces froze for a split second.
The taste was very ordinary.
It was no different from any random chain Cajun place in Eldoria.
Lily was the first to lose her cool. She angrily chewed on a piece of sausage that wasn’t even juicy and complained, “What must–eat list! The reviews made it sound so amazing, and this is it? I’m definitely going online to give them a huge bad review! They are playing with the feelings of us consumers!”
Tim tried to calm her down by placing a piece of shrimp on her plate. Amelia simply smiled and shook her head without saying anything.
To her, spending time with friends was far more important than the taste of the food.
The meal ended with Lily’s loud complaints. When they got back to the hotel, Amelia felt like everything from her hair to the hem of her clothes smelled like fondue, so she decided to take a shower first.
When she walked out wrapped in a loose hotel bathrobe, a video call request from Mason popped up.
Amelia casually accepted it, and Mason’s handsome face immediately appeared on the screen.
He seemed to be in his study, with neat bookshelves behind him.
When he saw her on the screen, he paused for a moment, then his eyes grew darker. “You just went on a business trip, and you’re already preparing this kind of surprise for me?”
Following his gaze, Amelia looked down and suddenly realized that the collar of her bathrobe had opened slightly while she moved, revealing her delicate collarbone and a patch of fair skin.
She quickly covered her chest with her hand and said, feeling embarrassed, “I–I just finished my shower! Wait a second!”
She hurriedly placed the phone face down on the bed and rushed into the walk–in closet to change into a clean and comfortable set of pajamas.
When she picked up the phone again, her heart was still beating a little fast.
On the other end of the video, Mason seemed to be in a great mood. His deep laughter came through the speaker.
“Tim is unbelievable. Something as big as your business trip, and he didn’t even report it to me in advance,” he said with fake complaint.

Amelia adjusted her posture and smiled at him through the camera. “What? Do you want to come here and be our consultant?”
Hearing this. Mason actually thought about it seriously for a moment before saying, “I’m afraid I really can’t make it this time. The company has a merger case to handle, and I can’t leave. Besides, the day after tomorrow. I have to take Evan to Kaia’s place.
“It’s fine. Just focus on your work. It’s not like you have to follow me every time I go somewhere. We should keep a little personal space, right?”
Mason raised an eyebrow. “What, are you saying I’m too clingy?”
Even through the screen. Amelia could feel the hint of threat in his voice.
She didn’t dare admit it, fearing he would find excuses to get back at her once she returned. She quickly shook her head. “You heard wrong. I didn’t say anything.”
The two of them chatted warmly for a while. It wasn’t until Amelia yawned sleepily that Mason finally hung up the call reluctantly.
The next day. Amelia. Tim, and Lily met the person in charge of the partner company, Dylan Lennon, at the agreed time.
Dylan looked to be in his early 40s. He wore glasses and had a gentle temperament, looking more like a scholar than a businessman.
After a round of greetings. Dylan’s gaze landed on Amelia, and there was obvious admiration in his eyes.
Ms. Harlow, to be honest.” Mr. Lennon said with a smile. “I was also in the audience during that designer competition. Out of all the works there, the one Hannah presented left the deepest impression on me. That sense of elegance and spirit was unforgettable. But I never expected that it was actually plagiarized from your design. It’s really a shame that such a brilliant work was buried.”
Amelia smiled modestly and said softly. “You’re too kind, Mr. Lennon. That design drawing was actually just something I made for fun when I had some free time.”
She said it casually, but behind the words “for fun” hid a painful memory.
In fact, the reason she drew that design was shortly after she married Ethan.
Back then, her whole world revolved around that man, but she didn’t want to just be a trophy wife.
She wanted to go to work.
However, Ethan and his mother both believed that as the daughter–in–law of the Rowes, she only needed to stay at home obediently and be a good–looking trophy wife.
